Harry Sims Key Shots book

I have read about Harry Sims Key Shots book and it sounded like it might be a very good starting point for learning the game. I carry Ray Martins 99 Critical shots book to the pool hall 4 times a week and work from it frequently as drills so the Key shots book sounded like it might parallel that for 3C

Has this book fallen into the "collectibles" catagory or is it still available as a study tool for wannabe 3C players?

Is the content available anywhere online in a PDF or for sale that anyone is aware of?

I know on Deikman's site he had permission to sell or give copies to junior 3C players for a particular competition while Harry was still alive.

I have both of R. Byrnes books coming and hope to gleen a lot from them.

Byrnes Books are a good start. Dieckman [not Deikman] site does stated copies of Harry Sims are avaiable, call him. Sims book along with Daly and Wille Hoppe book are on ebay frequency. Check my thread on Korean 4 ball for website with three cushion info.

I can get you the book. I'm sure Harry's wife still has some copies left.
I'm not sure the cost but it won't be a lot.

3Kushn, That would be terrific. Whatever she wants and shipping is fine with me. I will keep watching this thread or a PM whichever you think is appropriate.

I am moving to Chicago soon and want to start playing 3 cushion also, so I am interested in any instruction books also. I am in the process of trying to get a well known builder to make me a carom cue now.

Join the club ;) I have just started investigating some avenues for a good carom cue. I prefer non-production cues myself although the Layani and Longoni's out of Canada look interesting. Maybe we can get Adrian Viguerra to make a couple for us. :) He used to be out of Cicero S/W of downtown.

.com[/URL] If you get the chance ,buy Eddie Robin's 3 Cushion book.

For me right now, playing position in 3C is hopefully hitting one of the other two balls

Schuler is local to me and I have thought about checking with them. I have never really liked their pool cues much but some people around here just love them. Mostly the oldtimer... Hey wait.. that's me now a days.

Some decent books to consider.

Maurice Daly's Billiard Book
Billiards as it Should be Played Willie Hoppie
Billiard Atlas by Walt Harris
Raymond Ceulemans Mr. 100 (being reprinted)
How I Play Snooker by Joe Davis (great study on fundamentals) See your library.
Position Play in 3- Cushion by Eddie Robbins (out of print see your loan officer)
Little Joe's DVD on his Clock System (This system is deadly for pool and billiards). www.pooliq.net I'm threading needles on a regular basis with Joe's system.

... Also Bob Jewett sometime has 3 cushion books for sale. If you get the chance, buy Eddie Robin's 3 Cushion book.
While the first part is true, I wouldn't recommend a study of Robin's book until the reader usually averages over 0.5. I think Eddie would agree with me. You need to be able to make most standard shots with reasonable consistency (1 in 3 tries at the same not-so-hard shot) before worrying about position play (or, for that matter, most systems). Byrne covers pretty much all a carom player needs to know until he gets past 0.5. Take his Standard book to the table and try each shot.

Expect to pay $150 for Robin's book until he reprints it, which may never happen.

Bob's right on Eddie's book. I believe he says you really need to be a .750 -.800 player to study and understand his book.

I will say that there are many shots in his book that are great practice to hone in on your thin hits. But again like Bob says. Start with the basic shots and practice them and their variations. Most people tend to go for all the fancy stuff first without a foundation, me included. ie little experience in the small games. I played caroms for about 1 month then discovered 3C and never went back. It shows in my game.

Because of the present price/cost of Eddie Robin's book, and for later reference [I agree is book is for advance players].I stand by what I said earlier " if you get a chance to buy Robin's book, buy. I agree start with Byrne, Dalys,Hoppe, and Sims Books. Remember there only a handful of English written 3 Cushion books available.

i have a book named "position play in three cushion billiards" by eddie robin and i am willing to sell it if you are still interested.

I am new to 3 cushion, but wanted to let you know that the Illinois Billiard Club in the suburb of Willow Springs has a couple of Billiard tables that have been getting some use lately.

A typical price is $150. A good price is $100. This goes by occasionally on eBay. Amazon has a copy at $150. Someone else is asking $1200.

The amazon one must be gone. Cheapest there is now $250.00:(

I would also like to get a copy of Harry's book, if that is possible. Please let me if it is, and if so what I should do.

Thanks.
