Has anyone coached a friend through their earbuds?

How much help can someone impart without shooter's view of the table?

Please remember the advice taker needs to be of sufficient skill to be able to execute the instruction.
You have No idea my friend!

Only being 15' away the 'Coach' can get the job done!

ive made games where i coached a weak player who would normally lose at a certain game. it makes him easily a favorite if he isnt a giant dog.

Like an offensive coordinator to the quarterback. I think this is one of the most useful tools being used or not used for this type of coaching. Forget the timeouts unless they need firsthand instructions. I don't play in any leagues but I have a friend that does. He's just learning how to play and can pocket balls. I want to coach him through a match on what he should be aiming for his next shot.
Can't tell if you are joking or not, coaching rules are set by the league or tournament. None I know of allow this type of thing. In fact, some have started to disallow use of headphones while playing, maybe not for coaching reasons, but to make sure the player is not oblivious to the opponent bringing up things in the match such as calling a push or a time out to get a ref.

I don't think they can prove it. Most people are listening to music or tuning others out.
Sure it's not always possible to prove it. Same as other methods of cheating. It's often easy to break any rule if one does not care about the rules, other people or the consequences. Carjackers, home break-ins, sandbaggers in pool, welfare cheats, all just different levels of immoral a-holes that ruin it for everyone else. Most things are on the person to follow the moral and ethical standards set out by society. One of the best guides for being "good" is how people act when there are no consequences for their actions or when no-one is around, the actual "good" "ethical" people maintain their actions, period. The "fake good" only act good because they are afraid of the consequences.

In 3c, perhaps. Not in pool though.

I'd still say a decent player actually seeing the shot is going to have better success rate than same level player taking advice thru the ear from a person with a different perspective.

Love it. Will keep this line in my back pocket. I'm sure I'll get a chance to use it eventually.

Why in the world would the player at the table take advice from a same level player?

It's ridiculous!

Well if I asked one of you guys to help me run through an opponent then more than likely you guys will do it through earbuds and phone.

I'm asking because you guys are good.

If I said I need help beating this 1p player and we divvy up the winnings.

Just over 30 years ago I heard about guys cheating in 1P. By using ear piece(same ones used in poker cheating -before ear buds).

The move was simple. Put a weaker player in the box and have the stronger player tell him what ball to shoot playing 1P. It’s enough of an edge to out run the skill difference-if the game was right.

I never heard any names or actually saw this happen. I did see the equipment a few years later.

So did it happen? Most likely.

Fatboy

Legal or not, you'd have to be nuts as an experienced player to want to do this with a banger.

How about baseball signals or picking your nuts, scratching your ass

What You voiced is Your 'Opinion' Not Fact!

With, "I'd still say."

I have Facts on my side!
Did you copy and paste that from a previous post?

My comment on the matter may be opinion.

The fact that you were unable to discern what I actually wrote is not up for debate.

The words are above, should you care to read them.

Should you remain unable to comprehend what was written and continue to be simple...many will enjoy seeing it.

You can spout all you want about what you 'think'!

It's Not a basis for Facts!
