Has anyone ever tried 20.1???

It's just a hobby, but a fun one.

I was just curious if any of you have tried to break and run as many as you can with 21 balls on the table. In the rack there would be an extra row of 6 balls. I have tried this game once on an 8 footer and my high run was 25 if I remember correctly. I would be very curious how many balls John Schmidt could run in this type of game.

I got the idea from a story I heard about a one pocket challenge at some tournament decades ago. They used 21 balls for the challenge and some player ran 41 in one hole!!! Freaking nuts, I wish i could remember the players name.

never played it, or want to !

From what i can think of, break shots would have to be hit harder since there is more balls to absorb the impact of the cueball. also there is probably gonna be a lot more clusters to deal with.

good luck!

I think 14.1 is tough enough as it is. If I could run 500 every inning I might consider adding balls.

20.1 on an 8'?

Unlike John Schmidt I think that 14.1 is harder on an 8' than a 9'. 20.1 on an 8' sounds like a traffic jam supreme!

It was a mess.

Well sometimes I like to play the 12 ball ghost because it makes 10 ball and 9 ball seem like a joke. I was applying the same rational to straight pool.

Hussa,

i used to learn on a 8 ft table- shotmakin much easier but you have to pay more attention on position play-and in my opinion it was also a helpful thing-especially on the break-shots (if you re playing seriously).
I remember very well how i enjoyed it if we were having league games against *bigger* clubs who owned a 9ft table- i was so excited to go there^^ Think some guys were very confused to see someone who was so excited to play on *their* table, lol^^
Sure it is always better to learn from the beginning on a 9ft table- but the less space you have will force you to watch out for good position and angles.

I also remember a friend who used to train in the past straight pool with pool balls on a snooker-table.....and he did seriously...(have to say he almost did nothin else except playin pool- wish ive had that time, too^^). He became extremly strong-
But i would not like to play with 21 balls- makes no sense for me at all. 15 balls are enough for me (and sometimes still too much, LOL )

To be honest, I'd rather slam the car trunk lid on my nuts than try this game.

20.1 ...

I have access to a fairly nice 5x10 pool table in town (similar to the "elephant" at the Raytown Rec); I may have to experiment with 20.1 on it.

As a side note, I used to play 9.1 on a valley cougar to avoid the clustering ...
