I just got a cue I bought on ebay tonight, That said in the auction, that it had been refinished by "PAUL DAYTON", Anyway it looks like crap! the guy sanded the but sleeve away with dips and rolls that you can see imediatly. then, it looks like he may have wraped it before he sprayed it? That or he ruined all the finish next to the wrap when he did wrap it. plus there was a bumper set on the but cap that was alowed to dry into the finish, WAY OFF CENTER, also not even an adams bumper. (this is an adams cue) then the finish is chipping off at the joint and off the joint ring of the shaft! I bought a "refinished cue", that badly needs a refinish.

What a disapointment!!

Someone lied. That cue was never touched or seen by Dayton if what you say is true. He a very respected cue maker that builds a great cue.

You can call him to see if he ever touced it: (561) 489 - 0577

Tap Tap Tap...

Ain't no way Dayton let something like that outta the shop, if he ever let it in the shop in the first place.

I have hear nothing but good things about cuemaker Paul Dayton. I have seen some of his work up close and he does a very good job. As the poster mentioned above ,...............give him a call to see if he even touched the cue.

No way did Paul Dayton do that. I've owned 2 of his cues (actually own one now) that is absolute perfection in every way. He is meticulous about everything with his cues. One of the best there is.

Jayman........I have personally known Paul Dayton probably longer than most people on this board. I have known Paul roughly 40 years or so. In all that time i have always known Paul to be a perfectionist. Before making cues Paul used to refinish Antique Furniture here in the Albany NY area where he grew up.. He did several pieces for me, and believe me, if that cue is as you described, Paul Dayton never touched it. I believe someone is just using his name. What i hate the most is his name being used here on the forum before you called and checked the facts with Paul. Maybe you should have consulted Paul before you bid. He is very accessible and answers his own phone. And if you do call him please tell him that Mike Peabody says HI...................mike

My first custom cue was a Dayton, and the man is meticulous to detail, a true perfectionist. Very, very doubtful that he would let anything in that condition leave his shop.

I have little doubt that jayman got a bum cue. The ebay seller was more than likely wrong or flat out lying about the Dayton connection.

I have owned a Dayton cue before and I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one.

I own a dayton cue and it is beautiful! The inlays are sharp and the ring work is flawless. The finish is clear and even. The amazing thing is as good as it looks it shoots even better! I love my Dayton Cue!

ebay daton

how about this possibility: the seller was not lying. his brother in law has the same name, Paul Dayton. afterall the name is not that uncommon and lots of "cuemakers" out there.

I've had two Dayton's and am working on my third. Paul is meticulous and a perfectionist and will not compromise himself for money. He also offers one of the best values in the business for a custom cue.

I would second what everyone else has stated on this board.. Mr. Paul Dayton is a HIGH quality cuemaker. I have seen a lot of his work and it is all top shelf. I would bet the ranch that he had no part in refinishing the cue in question... JMHO..

The listing didn't read, "the cue on the table, that was refinished by...", did it? Meaning that, the table was refinished by Paul and not the cue. I don't think Jayman was trying to knock Paul. I'm sorry he got taken, but like everyone else, I do not believe Paul did anything to the cue.
