Has anyone shot with or own a I-2 or I-3 shaft?

I own some McDermmot Cues and I am thinking of buying a additional (perhaps replacement) shaft for a D16 I am interested in getting others views of these shafts ! I really like the way my cue plays now and do not own any predator, OB1 or any of the other shafts I hear tossed around here every day!

You can drop me a pm and I'll be glad to give my opinions privately. I have the I2, I3, and a predator 314 all 3/8 x 10. Played with them all for quite a while.

I've tried the same shafts as the above listed....I thought the I2 was more suited for me:)

If you like the way your cue plays as it is, leave it be and stick with regular shafts..... they have worked for alot of people for many years ;) . The I2s, have a better hit in my opinion than predator, but you are still talking about relearning your aiming due to the less deflection. I experimented with predator and an I2 and while they do lower deflection, I found no other use for them (I have already sold them). They do not generate more spin, I feel a good stroke and tip will get you all the spin you will ever need..... they are gimmicks that work for alot of folks, but are not necessary to play well.
Save you money, or buy an extra shaft like your other one and call it good.

for reference, i'd say that the i-3 shaft plays more or less exactly the same as a predator z shaft. i've only tested it for a few racks, but it felt really nice.
at least for me, who is like bambi on ice with a regular deflection shaft...

I have an I-3. It took a little bit of getting used to coming from the stock McDermott shaft. I can't really say it was any better or worse for me, it was just a matter of me adjusting to it. Lately though, I've been playing with a stock shaft with a Sniper tip. I'm thinking about putting one on the I-3 since I like it more than the Moori.

Amazing ...

Boy, 3rd party shafts for cues are just like 3rd party stereos for cars...lol

I've Got the I-2

I've been shooting with an I2 for almost a year, and I absolutely love it. It did take some adjustment time, as there is a difference from the standard McD shaft. It took me about a month to get used to it, and once I got adjusted, I feel like I took my game up a notch. Now I am a novice player, and I spend a lot of time at the table, so maybe my improvement is due to practice time and not the equipment. I do love the feel and the hit of the cue, and the moori medium is a great tip for me.

I play with a McDermott and an OB-1 shaft.

I am not a big equipment junkie and I truly believe that it's the player not the stick/shaft, but that being said I really like the hit of the OB-1.

I considered one of the I2 or I3's, but the OB-1 was local and I went that direction.

Uhhhhhh.......

I am getting the opinion, considering the few replys, that there are few McDermott lovers on this site! but anyways :) Good luck on your game and thanks for the opinion ! and yes its true like in anything else the more time one spends at their craft the better one gets but in this case you will perceive a difference when going to a new type of playing shaft for better or for worse! by the way I am a APA player also ! been in the league since its beginning!

Yes they are all low deflection shafts. The I-1, I-2, and I-3. Most people will compare the I-2 to the 314 of Predator, and the I-3 to the Z shaft of predator. This is because they have the same type of tapers and the same size tip. I have all three of the I shafts and I prefer the I-3, but that is because I like the 11.75mm tip and I like the feel of the shaft. The I-2 feels pretty comparable to a standard McDermott shaft, but it is a little smaller tip. 12.75mm. It definately has less deflection than a standard McDermott shaft, but it plays very similar. It didn't take me any time at all to get adjusted to the new shafts, but I have been playing with McDermotts for the last 8 years! I love the way they hit and feel. Just my preferance though. If you want to know more just pm me.

Are you ...
1) suggesting that McDermotts "warranty" has in some way something to do with my question?
2) suggesting that I can't read since this was copied off of their website ?
3) not able to completely comprehend my question?
4) not able to read my sig which clearly states I love McDermotts ?

Let me rephrase... my question was and is ... Does any one play with or have experience with the playability of the I-2 or I-3 shafts in comparison with the other low deflection shafts available? :)
