pool or a specific pool player?

In all my years of watching the network, I've never seen the slightest mention of any billiard sport or player on Sportscenter, Outside the Lines, etc. I think I read Danny Basavich was interviewed on First Take, but I didn't catch it. Besides, that's a fringe show anyhow. And Jim Rome had Jeanette Lee on his show, but it was a fluff piece.

It's really surprising. As myopic in their coverage as ESPN is, they do occassionally give some love to the "fringe" sports. When the Poker Boom was happening, there was a nice, lengthy segment on Stu Ungar.

SVB is the perfect story. But I suspect that he needs to become more dominant before his life gets a biography piece on ESPN.

So does anyone know if there's been coverage of Efren, Earl, Johnny, Allison on one ESPN's bread and butter shows?

I believe they did some on Mosconi, Fats, Allen Hopkins, and Jeanette Lee. I'm not 100% postive though. Johnnyt

I know that ESPN-Asia sent a crew last year for a long, in-depth documentary on Jeanette Lee (??90 minutes??); I believe it was for their entry into the Korean market. I haven't seen it yet; but have heard it has been shown over and over on Korean television. Charlie Williams was involved in the production; perhaps he could weigh in on the details.

Not to be negative Don, but have you EVER known Charlie to "weigh in" on even ONE thing here...except to post player lists for his tournaments? He's never contributed one single post to any thread, EVER. Come on Charlie...prove me wrong!

I saw that little segment on Espn first take with dana jacobsen and one of the guys talking and playing a bit with danny Bassivich...(spelling?) He talked about how he got into the game, a little about hustling. Set up a prop shot for Dana. That's about all I can remember.

I do not remember seeing any pool stories on espn main shows though

ESPN is far too busy to get involved with pool or everyday life.

They did a nice job on Roger Clemens and his wifes use of HGH though. Tastefully done!!
