Have Bar Box Tables Evolved?

Again with the Valley, I never mentioned Valley and I sure as hell never said Valley was better, or even close to Diamond, but as far as evolution goes - Global tables are WAY more revolutionized than Valley, still not as good (unless we're talking electronics) as a Diamond, but they're nice tables and they play very well and need to be included in a conversation about the evolution of bar boxes. If you can't understand that one then I can't help you out (not sure where I've heard that before).

And before I leave for the day, is your friend cute? I'm recently divorced.

Thanks!
And just so you're aware, the global matrix operating system is nothing without a pool table, yet can be, and has been...installed in Valley and Dynamo tables as well as Diamonds, but has absolutely nothing to do with the playability of a coin operated pool table as that falls on the table manufacturers. So therefore, the coin operated pool tables, with the exception of Diamond, haven't changed or improved whatsoever over the last 30 years!!

This makes me wonder why Valley doesn’t make their own version of Ridgeback Pros and sell them as part of an upgraded table. I mean a new Valley still isn’t cheap and it might even convince someone to buy a new Valley instead of a used one.

You need to understand that 95% of all Valley tables are sold to vendors, not to the bars directly. And as more and more vendors start buying Diamonds and replacing their Valleys on their collection routes, that means they don't buy new valleys anymore as long as they have Valleys in storage in their warehouses.

Vendors don't care about tighter pockets, or about better players, their goals are games per hour played. I'd bet at least 98% of the players in this country could care less about tighter pockets on a pool table.

I think you're off by1.5% to the low side, maybe more. 99.5 or more could not care less. Hope you are well.

Are you sick? :killingme:

No, my grand daughter told me I should start being nice and just give her some of my donuts in the mornings before she goes to school.....instead of making her trade me chocolate chip cookies for them....she don't even know I don't like donuts:rotflmao1:

Told her, shes lucky she's 9 yrs old, because bribing grandpa won't work when she turns 18...LOL

Grandpas give doughnuts, it’s a fact.
And when she turns 18 you really think it won’t work? That’s when she’ll be bringing her
18 year old friends around, it’ll work, if it doesn’t she’ll stop coming over and bringing
her friends.

Exactly.. My valley plays pretty good with ridge backs but you go to bars for leagues where Apa players who are average at best can suddenly run out because the pockets are huge. They think I’m crazy when I explain the arcade tables aren’t about playing good pool. They are about letting someone who can’t play make balls quickly so they have to throw more money in it. Lol

Interesting, but why are more and more vendors buying Diamonds? They sure aren’t cheaper, and they play tougher (resulting in fewer games per hour) so is it because people prefer to play on them and/or they can change more for the games? If so, it comes back to why they don’t offer a better product when we aren’t talking about a massive redesign.

Because a lot of playoffs are held on Diamond tables, bar owners have a lot of customers that want to play on Diamonds in their home bars. Vending companies would rather buy and supply the Diamonds, rather than lose the account because the bar decided to buy their own. Problem with that becomes with the other vendor accounts that don't have the Diamond tables, they feel left out, so therefore they insist on having the same tables as well.

Depends on which pocket option you choose. Yes, the ProCut is tough but the league-cut is not. We've got league-cuts in my home spot and they are really easy tables.

By the way, shes my youngest granddaughter, I already have 2 more in their 20's....LOL

guess it depends on if you are a female or not. lol

LOL, I thought about that after I walked out the door, figured I'd run with it and see what you said :)

not much of an innovator if nobody uses your tables[global]. Ive played all over the country and I don't think Ive ever seen one. The only reason I heard of them 30 years ago was the owner of a room considered buying them because he could get a great deal on them - he went with Gandys instead, that ought to really tell you something.

I don't care if they start building Pintos that drive themselves and pour you drinks - they are still garbage and I'm not buying one.
Jason

Can't say I ever played on one in years past but I've played on their latest and they're not bad, no diamond, but not bad.

Globals are not comparable to a Diamond in any way. I could care less about using a phone to make it drop the balls...... In no way has Global been any part of the evolution of bar box pool tables, just because they have some fancy electronics does not mean they play good.

In any way? Disagree.

How about Diamonds with the Global matrix system installed in them, where would that put Diamond on your evolution scale?

Tops.

You guys crack me up, except you RKC. You think just because I don't have the Diamond dick shoved all the way down my throat I'm anti-diamond, that's not the case. I think Diamond makes the best table today, hands down (I do think they are kind of ugly though, I despise the way the mitered corners look.) but the coin mechanism of the Global is more advanced then the Diamond, and that's what the thread was about.

Well then, I guess you should have titled your thread "How has the pay to play system on coin operated pool tables evolved" because the playability is basically the same as it's been for the last 30+ years. As far as the dick goes, i think you're pointing it in the wrong direction, my guess is this isn't your first screen name on AZB.
