Has the LD technology improve the pro players level?

What do you think guys? Have all those predators, ob, etc.. shafts really improve the level of the pool game in the last maybe 15 years?

Do the nowadays players play better pool than the 90's players (archer, strickland, hall, etc..) due to these shafts?

Have this technology taken the game of pool to a superior level?

It makes it easier because the new cues work on deflection but the players are still the ones that have to make the shot.

You can hit a shot with a custom cue and one of those fancy technology and you would probably have an easier time doing it with the fancy tech cue.

Expensive and artwork cues are not prevalent in the game anymore. Players are playing with their beater, newer tech cues.

You can either have a set of hand made golf clubs or you can go with the newest tech from Callaway or Nike.

Are you suggesting that production cues are better than custom cues? Because I have hit with custom LD shafts with custom butts and I have not yet found a mass produced cue that hits as good as a custom cue. I switched from the Predator 314-2 to a custom LD shaft and it has made my life easier.

I don't think LD shafts have risen the level of play. I do think LD shafts are the reason alot more people are playing at a Pro Level.

Are the very best players usefully better -- probably not-not in any measurable way.

What the LD shafts have done is to compress more players towards the top (at best.)

remember most pros can beat most players with a broom handle. how much defection does a broom handle emit?

Yes but, could today players beat yerterday players at any game (meanly rotation games) because of these shafts? any real improvement?

I don't believe thay make a difference. My view has always been that you learn to play with what you have and then you can play your best. Same thing with golf. I have a golfing buddy who buys a new set of clubs at least one every year or so, buying high dollar shit too, and still sucks.

When I finally stepped up to a decent cue, my schon, I didn't play with it for almost a year because I loved the way my sneaky hit and didn't really NEED to change, IMO.

So that's the way I've always looked at it. I'm not saying I wouldn't buy a nice high dollar custom cue, but it wouldn't be because I thought it would improve my game, it would be because I like the pretty !!!

You think SVB would play any worse with a huebler sneaky, given some adjustment time ? I doubt it.

With less deflection the player doesn't need to compensate as much. If you don't need to compensate as much it takes a little less skill. My opinion is that it probably allows players to shoot better. For the world class players it doesn't matter much IMO.

i havent read all the posts....:embarrassed2:
can anyone list the top 20 pros and what shaft they use???

I am of the opinion that as long as there is deflection, there is always going to be compensation. If you play with the same cue all the time, why does it matter if you have an LD shaft or not?

I believe that the only real benefit of having an LD shaft is being able to switch it between different butts and have no adjustment period. I play with the same cue all the time and feel very comfortable making extreme english shots.

If you get comfortable with a cue, I don't think there is any difference. I would actually argue that there are certain shots that are harder to make with an LD shaft because of the low deflection.

Sticks can't make someone who already shoots perfect pool, shoot beyond perfect. A stick can help with the learning process, the same way a simple textbook stroke can. But once you've already learned everything, and developed a consistent stroke, it's no longer about the equipment.

Your right!

Brandoncook26 has a very good point and its the only reason I would still like to find one that I like, i would allow me to use a few different cues with no adjustment to how they play.

Will you run more racks with a LD shaft..., Dont know, but I dont think so.

that makes a total of 4.. top 50 in 2011 that use predator cues.. and all 4 would be on the list with or without predator

not the landslide "taking over" that ya thought huh?

it's just a gimmick.. a highly marketed corporate gimmick.. but gimmick none the less
