Have used a predator + Espiritu cue... considering something new. Recommendations?

I want a long, low deflection cue. My shaft is about 11.8mm... my ferule has definitely looked better... my shafts aren't straight, I don't like the 5/16 pin and would love to have a butt that's threaded so I can add an extension.

I [think] I want to get a couple of WX 900, possibly make them an iota skinnier... and am open to suggestions as far as the butt goes if anyone would be so kind to make recommendations.

I can also upload a picture of the butt of my cue. I like it's cosmetics, but I think I'm ready for a slightly longer butt, threaded, with a different pin.

Thanks y'all.

A friend of mine strongly recommended the z3 shaft by Predator...

Does anyone know if they can come any longer than 29" ...? I do think I'd want something longer.

Are you still in the Hollywood area? Have you tried the Tiger Pro X yet? You ought to give a call to Tony at Tiger and visit them. He has a table there and you can try some shafts out. Also, Eddie Cohen can custom make you a handle with extension if you like the shafts. I'm playing with a 30" butt and 29" shaft and like that combo a lot.

Good suggestions, good reminder. I've been over to their shop years ago so I'm ashamed to admit I didn't even think of it.

Where does Eddie Cohen work out of? Is he local in LA? Or affiliated with Tiger?

You'll recognize him when you see him, Truman. He goes to all the tournaments. He recently completed this cue for my buddy - http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=425127&highlight=eddie+cohen Goes by the name of "Zirroe" on AZ. He also did another one and added a threaded extension.

He's from the greater Los Angeles area, custom cue maker, no affiliation with Tiger. Excellent prices, does work on time, perfectionist quality, keeps getting better and better. He's a young guy with a good work ethic. Get a cue from him while you still can. eddie@cohencues.com

If you like the Pro X shaft (that's what I play with) or the Predator Z (very similar) he can get a 30" partial and make you a nice cue. It will take longer than buying a Predator, maybe 4 or 5 months, but you'll have something special that should last a lifetime.

You can also order up a Tiger cue if you find a shaft you like. They offer quite a few now and they're decently priced. Personally I would go with a custom from Eddie after what I've seen of his work. They look good and play good!

If we're talking about little Eddie who lives near hard times I definitely know him. Even just the work he did on my tip (if we're talking about the same guy) was indicative of perfectionism.

I can appreciate the cue you sent pictures of as fine work... its just too ornate for my taste.

Part of my concern for whichever shaft I choose... Mezz WX 900, Z3, etc... is the durability over time as it seems like none of these ****ers are willing to stick with a design for 20 years... so no matter what you'll have to deal with getting used to something new when you need something new -- or have to buy the number of shafts you need for a lifetime.

I've had my current Espiritu for 15 or so years, so I expect the next one should easily get me to the end of my pool "career". :)

try an ash shaft.

I have been using predator 314/2 for several years now and I just bought a ash shaft. And man let me tell you. It's like got the best feeling stiff hit I have ever felt. And literally I had to make no adjustments for deflection, swerve etc. Going from the 314/2 as u know have kind of a dead hit. To this ash shaft. The feeling is so incredible. It's feels like I've been playing with this shaft for years. Hope this helps.

Note that Tiger makes their own screw in extension, which I'm sure either fits (or they could fit it) their butts. The Tiger extension can also fit (or be fitted) on other cues. It is aluminum - you might want to try it out if you are near Tiger.

What's an ash shaft?

My ash shaft was actually made for pool. It has a reg like pro taper to it. And tip diameter is 12.65 mm. It's not a snooker shaft. It's a pool shaft made out of ash blank. If u want to p.m. Me I can tell u who I bought it from. Cause the gentleman said his friend made the shaft for him. Amd he is finding out this week if his friend will build me a couple more with different pins to fit my other cues. Just amazing playing shaft. For real.

What IS ash? It sounds like the product of something which burned. This cannot be what you mean? Is there wood called ash? What would make it special? Splain it to me lucy!
