Have you ever played with a Maximum cue (made by Meucci)?

I am just curious if any of you guys have ever hit or played with a Maximum cue in the past?

I am curious if they were made in the US by Meucci, or any chance Meucci imported them from Asia?

Are they decent players, or much less quality then an actual Meucci?

Just curious, because I seen one (a plain jane) in a local pawn shop yesterday for $60, but not sure if it is even worth that much.

I can't find any prices or much info about them online, and all I know is that they were made from 95 till 98 by Meucci.

Thanks.

I don't know how you can even produce a cue for $60. Blows my mind

Maximum is a budget model of Meucci...
...I wouldn't buy it as an investment...
..if it was straight, I might buy it as a bar cue.

It would be kinda like buying a lowline Lada...who the hell wants it?

I still have a Maximum cue I've won tournaments with it, way back when. The shaft, unfortunately, warped. It's the only shaft I own that has warped.

The wood on mine is unlike any Meucci I've ever seen.

If it's straight, buy it, don't buy it. I'm not sure why you would or wouldn't.

Freddie <~~~ if the shoe fits, buy 'em

Played with one for a few years before it got stolen. Much like the Meuccis of that era, really whippy shaft.. Was okay for playing on large-pocket Gold Crowns and Valleys, because increased deflection is not punished so much.

I wouldn't play with one with a stock shaft on modern Diamonds, but one can always replace the shaft with a low-deflection model.

I always liked the look of the Maximums..

You seem to be really smart about deflection. Hard to believe you are only a C player (by the way you talk about deflection). You made some good points. Thanks

They were indeed made by Meucci, Though at first Bob pretended they weren't, nobody was fooled.
I expect to try to compete against the very low end imports that were invading from Taiwan at the time.

$60 is almost certainly more than the cue retailed for new. The entire line was made from less attractive woods
and even cheaper plastic than regular Meuccis...

less attractive wood and even cheaper plastic - just ponder that for a moment.

As far as how they play, if you like a Mooooochie, you will prolly like 'em.

Not possible.

justinb386...Here's a clue...He's NOT a C player! It's just a tagline. :D

I did not realize that was part of his signature, lol. Maybe he was a C player when he 1st joined the site, and never changed his signature. I never learned anything about deflection, and after 20 years of playing the game, I am still clueless as to what it is, and why it is so important to a players game. Like the Predator Z shaft for example. I think that shaft was marketed to have the least amount of deflection, which I read was a good thing. So, I purchased it, and it was so stiff, I could not run 4 balls with the thing. Worst hitting shaft that I have ever used in my life. Sold it to a player from Taiwan (for about the same retail price that I paid for it), and he loved it. I always loved the whippy feeling of Meucci cues in the past, and never understood why the stiffer the shaft feels, the better it will play.

If I recall my AZ history right....I think Smorgasbored gave Russ the Short bus C name.
I read a lot of Smorg's post for three years before I joined....
...he had passed on by the time I became active.

...he is our most honored poster...
...here is a thread about him in the Hall of Fame forum...
