Have you ever seen a cue at a Pawn Shop that seemed way too good to be legit (meaning, not stolen)?

Maybe the seller is a Cuetec dealer. There is a Viking dealer who sells brand new Whyte Carbon shafts for $480. They are $600 new. I got one from him for $350, that I think was only test hit.
I paid $500 for the same setup direct from Cuetec.
Hmmm, how about on Reddit r/BilliardsMarkeplace? There was discussion about stolen goods regarding these sales but I have not been able find those comments since. Heres a helluva lot of Cuetec Cynergy SVB Generation One Dakota Editions for $500 where new is $675 and there is a Generation Two out now. So, maybe a reasonable price but how did he get so many Cuetecs?

Maybe where you live the law makes them hold it for 60 days, But in Jersey they are required to hold it for 7 days before it can be sold, Plus a report needs to be sent into the police of the item the shop bought with ID.

Divorce cases see a lot of "Judge:: Have the wife sell the Porsche and split the money" and she sells it for $2.00

I have heard tell of that happening, it may have once or twice. What was popular in the redneck town I was in was when somebody ran off with another woman his spouse would put everything remaining of his in the driveway. Call him and give him two hours to come get his stuff. Not that it was much good, gasoline soaked as it was. She would throw the match when he pulled in the other end of the drive! Doesn't pay to piss off a country girl! Any for that matter. They will find a way to make you pay.

Doubt they are stolen. Wouldn't display them all at once on a public site.

Dude is still making money.

Working as an on-demand hot shot courier, I had this one stop where I was moving a dozen or so boxes and a very nice acoustic guitar from this woman's home to an apartment across town. Pickup and dropoff locations under same name.

I loaded all the boxes in the back of my pickup and was making a comfortable spot in the cab for Mr. Martin.

As I turned to grab it, the woman already had it in her hands and said, "Don't forget this." as she threw it, not so gently, in the bed of the truck.

Wasn't too hard to figure out what was happening (and glad she wasn't hot).

"hell hath no fury" Lucky she wasn't directing the anger your way!

Years ago I had emergency wreckers and ran for city, state, and sheriff's departments. I was being very gentle with a corvette knowing the owner would go over it with a magnifying glass when they got it back looking for any excuse to sue. They were being arrested on a drug charge and the owner was whining quite a bit. He was a member of a biker gang and I got a couple of threatening phone calls at home where my calls were forwarded to because of the emergency service. A couple days later he came to get his personal possessions out of the vette. I pointed out it was parked all alone in a vacant area of my impound yard. "One more phone call and I torch it." He was whiny, "I can't control what my brother's do." I stood fast, "one more phone call." I was dead serious about a little fire of my own.

The old pool room scam is a nice looking women comes in the room with a nice cue and gives a real sounding story on how she got it and wants to sell it.
Lets say it's a real nice Schon cue and she wants $200 for it.
Someone buys it and 10 minutes later a couple of big bruisers come in and singles you out that his girlfriend stole the cue and they strong arm you to get it back.
Man, you people sure as hell hang out in the wrong parts of town a lot. The worst thing that's ever happened to me while playing pool is that sometimes my whiskey doesn't get poured as tall as I wanted.

Two words: not any more!

How long Pawn Shop hold item to resell is different State to State.

Most Pawn Briker know value of item they loan money on.

Never saw a Great Pool Cue in pawn shop, at low price.

Most Pawn BrokerS are SHARKS in business to not loan much value on anything.

They deal with most people witt try h no money, no credit, and looking for loans from group of people in Pawn Biz. They are like organized crime loan sharks with store front.
The one where I knew the owners generally gave a small percentage of what they thought they could get out of it, then jacked the price when selling to allow room for negotiation.

Say someone wants to sell them a tv that was worth $150. They would buy it for $50 or even $25 then put a $200 price tag on it. Some people never haggled, some did and thought they were getting a smoking deal for $150.

We need to get together and write a book about how to deal w the little missus. 😂

A friend had it down to an art. His wife was named Cindy and he called manipulating things to get his way his Cindy management plan. She came out as well or better than he did most of the time so I was none to sure who was managing who!

My daughter was in a pawn shop down in Florida, she always checks out the cues if any. They had two Players and this no name. For 100.00 each. She beat him down to 60.00 and brought the no name home. It had a signature, and it was made by a cue maker from Arkansas forgot his name, very

good playing cue and turquois inlay with a stacked leather wrap. Well worth 60.00.
