He Who Throws Mud Loses Ground

This pun like phrase is one of my favorites.

But what is best ?

I see players breaking down to 3 categories.

1. Quiet concentration

2. Good mixture

3. Alot of chirping

Pool is a social game. A little friendly banter mixes it up and makes it more enjoyable. Once the first ball is hit, I'm not a fan of playing chirp headgames.

I voted quiet but that is when I am gambling, when its just banging I love to mix it up. Normally when I am gambling with someone and they start the chirping I break out the head phones and put them on ignore. Works every time even if they are not even turned on.

I only know you from the forums Mr. 0776, But I would have bet HUGE $$$$ you were a 'head phone' type guy ! ;)

PS..What about tournaments where they are not allowed ?..Do you chirp back, or just concede ? (or do you get violent)

i'm always quiet but I enjoy when someone does a little chirping, so I'd have to say a little mixture is best

Just for you Zilla since we know each other from the Accustats game show. Me trying to play 14.1 with my wife sharking me. She isn't deliberately sharking me, it's just that she doesn't care about or understand pool and she enjoys messing with me whenever she can.

Cool >>>>>He Who Throws Mud Loses Ground<<<<<

Is that because it was UNDER their feet or what?....:D

Merry xmas

When someone starts chirping I like to return the banter. Remember "it's better to give than receive".

Depends on how serious the game is, I guess. Quiet for money, always:cool: I'm not sure I agree about pool being a "social game". I'm sociable enough away from the table, not so much at the table.

I voted 'good mixture'.

As long as two players know where the line is drawn, it's far more enjoyable for the
players and the sweaters.
The one who is shooting should be the one who starts the exchange though....
...and when he's pulling the trigger....no talking.

I remember Pittsburgh John playing one-pocket at the Rack...he's in jail, can't find no
way out....he looks up and says "The trouble with one-pocket is that you gotta take your turn....
....if this was poker, I'd pass."

Good mixture here, too. Most of the time, there's drinking involved when I'm playing. I like some banter and it can really add to the entertainment that is the game. It depends on the setting and person, too. If my opponent is quiet, then I'll respect that. I play primarily in bars, so somebody's in the wrong place if they think they've come for a quiet game. When I see those Filipino matches, they look like a blast.
