Heavy Breathing

As the title suggest, I have a bad habit of breathing really heavy when down on a shot. I don't breathe heavy normally, but I can't stop it. Many players have commented and poked fun in good taste at it, they're slow long breathes almost like I time my practice strokes with my breathing. Rather odd.

Anyone else do this or know anyone that does it?

In Mark Wilson's book " play great pool" he focuses on breathing patterns in an exceptional way. He relates to the training of military snipers and even has graphics illustrating breathing patterns in relation to shooting (or more importantly when to take the shot). In a nutshell, if your torso moves one millimeter during a shot it will throw you off your target. So there is a slight pause after every exhale, and during that pause is when you let your stroke out. CJ Wiley talks about breathing patterns in pool by relating it to archery in his dvd.

These guys say it much better than I, but I would recommend you research it out because it brings a whole new level to your game when you can control your breathing and get in a rhythm for shooting pool

Sounds like anxiety may be a possibility. If it is, there are many techniques, both mental and physical, that we can utilize to induce relaxation.

I reserve heavy breathing for sex. Unfortunately, my wife seems to remain rather calm. Yes, I know, sounds like a personal problem.

As Cardigan Kid points out, Mark Wilson does an excellent job of discussing this in his book.

Rhodiola - Ashwagandha - Q10 !!!!! Try these......... They work.........

I don't think this is anything serious. If anything maybe it helps slow your mental process down and helps you concentrate. To be honest I have never really paid to much attention to my breathing in my game. I try my best to stay centered and not to over think.
