Hello's, Thank You's, and Happenings at the IPT

Holy Schnikes!!, that is the most name dropping I have ever seen in one post!!!!

Well actually I thought Marissa was being conservative and holding back on mentioning the people she met. People who were not there just wouldn't believe it.

Kevin Trudeau and Deno Andrews were constantly moving about the arena. It is amazing at how much walking KT did. Now wonder he is in such good shape. I met both Deno and Kevin. Kevin signed my copy of BD with his picture on the cover. I shook hands with both of them (hoping that some of their vitality would flow through my body).

I saw a man at the score keepers desk in a baseball uniform and said, "you look like a baseball player" he said "I am". It was Johnny Damon.

I met and talked with Mike Sigel, had him sign a cue ball. He is the most friendly outgoing person there. Boy can he talk.I would love to be able to follow him around for a day and just listen to him talk. I am sure he will be making a ton of money on the talk circuit. He put on an exhibition on the main table that everyone is still talking about. But he should leave the trick shots to Mike Massey.

Met Marlon Manalo and Bustamante and they signed cue balls. Met Efren and he signed my program. Wished him to "play well". And he looked at me, said thank you, I will. And boy did he ever. So he owes me a beer. Ha Ha.

Watched Mike Massey practice his draw shot on the practice table. Just me and him. He signed a cue ball for me. What a great guy. Did you see his new cue case. The shark. I met the man who makes them. Didn't get his name. Spetty knows. Don't know what Mike's cost but the one the maker was carrying around was for sale (maybe) for $17,000.

Met Loree John Jones and she signed a cueball after she beat Nick.

Niels Feijen also signed a cue ball. As well as he plays I was astounded he didn't make the finals.

Sarah Ellerby and Troy Frank were at the autograph table with big smiles.
Sarah sure did look lovely.

Joe Di was showing a person some one pocket shots on the practice table.

Grady was mingling with everyone.

Don , the Preacher, Feeney was talking with everyone. He now plays where I do.

Jose Parica and his wife make a wonderful couple. Very gracious.

Watching Ed Kelly, Dallas West, Bill Incardona, Lou Butera, Jim Rempe... was awesome, an experience I probably will never have the opportunity to experience again.

Listening to Marcus Chamet (did he really give Little John the 6 and the last three in 10 ahead for $9500 and win?) be Mika's second was great.

Jam was one nervous puppy watching Keith play. Keith seemed over anxious do play well and with this group of pros one little mistake and you lose.

Met Fred, Spetty, Linda and MIke, and Colin.

Allison Fisher and Gerda were smiles and very gracious posing for pictures.

I almost missed Earl. He is learning how to work the crowd and the press. I see great things for him in the future.

The only person I didn't meet was Marissa. Shame on me.

But the truly amazing thing? Everyone there had the same opportunity to meet everyone as I did.

Name dropping? Who the hell are any of you that I would try to impress you? The only person I want to impress is the monkey I see in the mirror. Well, maybe KT and Deno. Life is too short to be worried about what you think. All I know is that I had one hell of a good time.

So sorry you had to miss it.

Jake

Hrmm..... now that is a good report. Thank you.

I find it funny you never said, "Like - omg, hugz to my bestest friends" and proceed to name every pro in attendance and then some.... Nobody ever seems to see what was originally posted except a few and then we become the bad guys for calling it out.

I think I'll just stick to the for sale forum from now on. See ya.

You know, I have no clue what half of you people are talking about, particularly Spetty.
Huh? I was just answering your question. Sorry, my mistake.

Jennie,
We are creating a pool reality series for InDemand television. I would like to offer Keith an opportunity to be part of the show. Shooting will commence in Louisville next month.
You can reach me at jayhelfert@yahoo.com or (310)370-3994

That will be really cool, and if you are able to capture the true essence of the DCC, it will be a hit. Thanks for acknowledging Keith. We hope to make it this year to Louisville.

Last night, we attended a local $20-entry fee tournament, and the buzz on the rail was all about the IPT. A couple of natives, a one-pocket champion and a tour director who also competes semi-professionally, said they are definitely going out for the IPT qualifiers with high hopes of being a part of this tour. We gave them the CD "Kevin Trudeau Speaks," a 46-minute audio of the players meeting, as they were very eager to learn the latest IPT news. Sadly, in the past years, many champion-caliber players quit playing professionally because of the exhorbitant expenses of competing and low payouts. The IPT has lit the fire of many a player desiring to get back to their true passion, playing pool.

I believe that when the IPT vision becomes a reality for others, as it did for those in attendance this past week in Orlando, all sectors of the pool industry -- vendors, media, cue mechanics, independent promoters, regional tours, leagues, cue-makers, and, of course, pool players -- will benefit. Behind-the-scene reality shows will be much in demand [pun intended]. With your expertise and knowledge of the real pool world, past and present, I know it's going to be a hit. :)

Here's a shot of Keith sitting at the Autograph Table signing a KOTH poster for Tang Hoa. It was refreshing to see players so enthusiastic and upbeat about pool, for a change. I saw quite a few players, who were not IPT members yet, in Orlando, hoping to learn more about how they can get on the tour: U.S. Open Champion Reed Pierce, Texas Legend C.J. Wiley, North Carolinian Sparky Ferrell, Detroit's Ronnie "Everything's Funny When You're Winning Big Money" Wiseman, Tony "The Sniper" Crosby, and California's Tang Hoa, just to name a few.

BTW, Jay, I would very much like to send you one of those CDs of "Kevin Trudeau Speaks," a 46-minute audio of the players meeting which explains the IPT tour in detail, if you haven't obtained one yet. Let me know if you'd like one, as well as one of the programs [nice little keepsake], and I'll get it out to you pronto! :)

That's the cutest picture lol I loved seeing everyone so outwardly enthusiastic and animated about this tournament. I can't believe how many pro players were getting autographs themselves. Jennie, it was great seeing you again, and as lovely as ever. I forgot my laptop in my room, but I'll be sure to bring it at the next event so I can show you those pictures.

I just ...

want to hear first hand accounts of the tournament by everyone
that had a chance to be there, and I don't care how you phrase it
or how many names you drop. I would mention it too, if I had had
the opportunity to be there in person, this is an exciting time for Pool
and Pool players. And I want to hear about all of it, and I appreciate
your contributions.

Ross,

I caught the original post, before all the names were edited out. Personally, I don't hate Marissa nor do I love her either. I guess if she wants to play the ultimate groupie, it doesn't bother me. Small thing to a giant, right?

Fred, if I'd been there I would certainly have sought you out and introduced myself.
If I ever get to to an IPT tourny, I will buy YOU a few beers.:) Then we can watch some matches, disect the play at the bar afterwards and just chew the fat.
After that, we can find a table somewhere, shoot some pool and drink beer till they throw us out. How does that sound?;)

Gabber........ not one of the 150.
