Is this worth buying for 160 dollars with some kind of case you can see in the backround?

Best regards bob

I would say yes as long as it rolls straight and isn't compleatly dinged up finnish wise. I cant tell from the pics but the case alone may be worth the asking price.

Anyone have any input on this cue? I'd like to know some history behind the cue. Is it rare? Is it even a Helmstter?

That's definitely the Helmstetter logo. His name may be on there somewhere as well. The inscription "professional player" is one I've never seen before. I wonder who he made this cue for. Are there any other notations on this cue?

Hey Jay and Jim! I'll be collecting the cue next week. I'll get back to you with more info. Apparently the cue was bought in England.

Very cool cue. Being bought in England could explain why it looks a little unfamiliar. There were some different models for that market.

Love the cue and would love to see more pics.

This Helmstetter cue may look unfamiliar to us because it is actually an "Adam Professional" Carom Cue by R.C. Helmstetter. The carom cues were more popular overseas. Not sure which model since it dates back to the early 80's but it should be a RCH something or other. I can tell you this...they start at about $320 new!

I recently had an old Adam full splice stolen along with a case that looks exactly like the one in your pic! The cue played great and I loved the case enough to repair it several times because the ends came loose. I think it was a cheap import case, but it was small enough to carry easily, and would fit resting on the front passenger seat of my truck without bothering a passenger. It would easily hold a 30" shaft.

These old Helmstetter and Adam cues are under appreciated by many, hence the low price. Great find and a good buy!

The Helmstetter was sure enough a carom cue. The case was some kind of fake leather. Is there any market for this kind of cue?
