Help a brother out...

Guys, I want to start doing my own tips, cleaning of shafts, and shaping of tips on a lathe. What kind do I need. I know nothing about them but I could easily learn to use one quickly.

What one should I buy, for the most reasonable price. I do not want to spend a ton, just a decent lathe to perform the three services I mentioned?

Thanks

Over in the want/sale there is a thread for one of Todd's lathe. It's new and $385 shipped. Hard deal to pass on IMO. If the price is right I would pack up my shop and send it your way.

It's a Taig base cue repaire lathe. I guess would be the best way to describe it. They are good little lathes. Maybe Todd aka tsp&b will jump in with more info.

Larry today could have been better.

I have one of Todd aka tsp&b Lathes. He has 3 types, I would get the higher end one just becouse once you start you always want to do more and more.

Hey Sport, why do you have those offensive numbers in your avatar? (not to derail the thread, but I am offended)

To the OP, I would get a basic set of instructions on tip repair. Chris Hightower has a video for $50. His book is around the same price and it is also priceless. It's on his website. It shows you everything from shaft cleaning to changing tips, and even shows you how to used a lathe. Since you appear to be in need, that is the best thing for you. In the beginning of your quest, it is always better to acquire knowledge as opposed to hardware.

Sorry to offended you SK, don't let numbers like 666, 13 or etc. bather you. IT's nothing. It just numbers that stuck with me. 6 is my lucky number

I can attest that Todd is very honest and professional and takes pride in his products. I've had nothing but A-1 transactions with him.
