DENNIS,

Though we began our transaction apprx. 6 yrs ago I have no problem you finishing your deal with RAIST prior to mine if it will facilitate raist being satisfied. He is a GOOD guy and has VERY serious health issues....

Still need an update on our project.

calling and bugging a cuemaker is one thing..... but doing it in a public forum is another.

if i was a cuemaker i would understand not only ignoring some people but also not dealing with them what a head ache.

what do people think ????? im sure if it was finnished they would want to complete the transaction.

its kinda like the sistine chaple i guess???? i wonder if it would have been better if wasnt being harrassed by the pope?

I've had the best luck contacting him on Saturday by phone. He'd never get anything done if he fielded all the calls he gets.

I'm not sure why I'm asking for this info. I'm not sure if I have the patience for a transaction, but I would like to talk to him if possible. I have called his shop no answer or to reply to voice mail. Does someone have Mr. Searing email address, does he have a computer?
Last question WHY is he so difficult to deal with, any help would be good!
Dave

easy on the trigger finger

I agree with Merylane to the extent that Mr. Searing's business practices should not be discussed in a public debate, but the original question of how to contact him is certainly a legitimate one. Quite frankly, I am worried about him. My cue -- for which he built two shafts -- is secondary. I just hope he is OK. I really mean that. I talked to him a month ago to this date, when he was supposed to ship my cue back to me with the two new shafts that he made. Since then, he seems to have disappeared from the planet. I live in Frankfurt, Germany, thousands of miles from where he has his shop, and I have no other recourse than to ask the same question in a pool forum such as this, "Does anyone know how to contact Dennis Searing?" Posed in this way, the question is harmless and certainly has merit, and in no way should be misconstrued to mean we are "bugging" him. My advice to Merylane: Easy on the trigger finger. I think I can speak for all of his customers caught up in similar dilemmas in that we all believe he is one of the marquee cuemakers in the world -- and a really nice guy to boot -- or else we wouldn't be his customers.

some facts...

The mad professor is in the shop..working hard on a project that will change the way you see a finished Searing cue. He isnt ducking anyones emails or phone calls but if answered all of them everyday he would never turn a lathe on. I speak to him weekly, we have been friends since childhood and I too have been waiting for yrs for a cue...so none of you let your panty's bunch up, ok?

I have never had a problem with contacting Dennis via email. And he has been pretty much 'Johnny-on-the-spot' with his replies. I found him to be quite likeable. I like his cue ordering policy, it makes sense to me, and obviously works for him.

I think the man's craftsmanship is genius. I get the very real impression that each and every cue that leaves his shop is a labour of love. I have NEVER seen one that I did not immediately like. :D I am sure the waits are well, well worth it.

Lisa...who is WAY down on the list.

I agree that Dennis is a nice guy. A few yrs ago when he was helping run the FL Tour we talked cues at just about every tourney. I hooked him and Kerry Zyler up together to talk shop because they could just about be twins when it comes to perfection and not being ones to rush a job. The wait is worth the quality. Dennis is also a great player.

He most likely show up next week even if it's just to say Hi to a few people @ Victory Billiards in West Palm 7th-8th or Bird Bowl Billiards in Miami the 14th-15th.

:D

My a$$ is a little red but it's not from panty's.

Until your closing you were doing a good job of speaking for DENNIS.:)

It's a catch-22 for Dennis because over the years he has dedicated himself to building the finest quality pool cues he possibly can and his results so far have shown that he has accomplished that and works every day to make his cues better for his customers. Because he has worked so hard many ...many poolplayers and collectors want to own a Searing and the result is that he receives thousands of phone calls and thousands of emails for cues and shafts and repairs....and there is no way one person can return all of these calls and emails and it is not because he doesn't want to, time does not allow for it. His success has put a huge amount of pressure on him to build cues and repairs and try to keep up with the orders.

I know Dennis very well and he strives to do the best he can for everyone. When he has questions about a cue he is building for a customer he will call the customer, when your order is getting close he will contact you and give you an update. I am relating from my experiences in dealing with Dennis for about 11 years and yes it can take a long time.

I think most of us that are involved with cues and are on AZ all the time probably realize that there is a long wait to get a Searing cue and/or shaft work etc.
He takes whatever time is needed to do the work on a cue to make sure it is right, Dennis gives 100% whether it is a tip install to a custom cue and there are no short cuts.

Let's all help Dennis by helping him spend his time on building cues and not on the telephone and emails.

another miscue

Hirun is overstating the obvious and, again, there is no debate in this thread over Searing's skills and work ethic. The man is a cut above, plain and simple. No argument from anyone. The original question was whether anyone knew how to contact him. And again the debate, seems to shift to whether it is appropriate to contact him. And that answer depends on each individual situation. I am sure if you ordered a car and the salesman told you it would be delivered on a Saturday. And, say, that Saturday rolled around, and then four more Saturdays came and went, you would not only be calling that salesman at work, but you would be ringing his doorbell at home, and probably putting a stop-payment order on the check. Dennis told me my shafts were finished a month ago. I think I have every right to phone him, email him or send a carrier pidgeon his way and friendly ask him, "Is everything OK?"....Again, my concern that he is well and in good health.

I saw he was on here just a few days ago lurking...if his forum name is Searingcue.

What I said above was misunderstood by some. I simply mean that whatever is said here about Dennis...is surely read by Dennis. Its a tough gig often. Say I promised BrooklynJay his cue would ship today...then Allison & Gerda show up and both need 6 ferrules & Morris...and a new shaft...and a new wrap. Then you hurry on BrooklynJays when you are through...now you buff a thin spot in the finish and it needs resprayed and that whole process again...and you have to leave for a tournament in the morning. I could go on & on...its an endless quest of who next or whats more important. I'll admit I told BrooklynJay over 30 days ago his cue was about to ship. He just received his new cue this morning.
gforces1911 & Steve Logan are next to be shipped.;)
Everyone waiting on a custom cue...relax...you will be rewarded.;)

strange ways

I sure hope that Varney emailed BrooklynJay in that 30-day time frame to tell him not to shoot the mailman, if you know what I mean, and I think you do. Me thinks Varney needs to take a refresher business etiquette course, say, perhaps, Common Courtesy 101.:D .

Hirun may be overstating the obvious, but I believe you are oversimplifying. A salesman selling a car would be quite different than dealing with, say, a custom bike builder who may run into all manner of issues while he is BUILDING the bike as opposed to someone who is selling a mass produced vehicle. It is very laudable, however, that you would ask about his health. I believe that Voodoo Daddy took care of this question in his post above. It's quite possible that he test hit with the shafts after he spoke with you and ended up not liking what he felt or saw. IF that's the case he probably should have called to let you know, but it's not inconceivable.

Thread's dead

All issues have been resolved. One final footnote: Dennis is a classy guy as well as a great cuemaker. I think this thread is dead.
