Help deciding on custom maker

Ok I have a new design I want made. Here is the deal. I have had Richard Black make me a cue and is one of my favorite makers for sure. I also Like Scruggs and Nitti. So in all your expertise I ask should I go with Black, Scruggs, or Nitti. They are all similar in style although Black can go where no man has gone before I believe. The cue I have in mind is Grey stained curly maple with purple...yes thats right purple venners and ivory quarter moons and silver etc. I would love your feedback. Thx!
 
The interesting answer to this question would be to order the same cue from all 3 and keep the best one.
 
Why not consider a differnt top quality cue maker. McWhorter, Chudy, Jim Buss, Diekman, Black Boar, Hercek come to mind as does BlackCreek.

Why not consider Eric Crisp (Sugartree Cues) ....He has pretty wood :thumbup: Yea Yea Yea...I know what your thinking...He hand picks some of the best wood that I have seen.....One day when I grow up, I will own a Sugartree:D
 
i agree any of the above but.....

never stain sweet curly maple... never ever...........
 
From the 3 I would go with Scruggs as the value will hold up down the road although I like Nittis work the best. :smile:

Even if a cue's value holds up, one with grey stained maple and purple veneers would be a tough sell no matter who makes it.
 
Looking at time until it's finished I'd go for a Vollmer instead of Richard Black. Michael Vollmer learned his from Richard Black and follows his style pretty much. Should be around 9 to 12 months

Is Timmy still actually building cues? He's been trying to quit for a few years.

Will Chris do a gray stained curly?

Not that I'm a big fan of throwing out another name, but I think others might take on that commission before these three.

I agree with one of the other post never stain, select another wood that gives the color you want and if you are doing silver inlays I would definitely look at Jerry McWorter as a choice.
 
I have seen amazing work from all 3 makers.

I do agree with the other posters about the grey stain, but the cue is for you to keep so have it made just like you want! If you think you may sell it down the road the natural wood with no stain is much more popular.

Good luck with your choice, I don't think you can go wrong, I could add some makers to your list but then it would be my list, lol.
