Do you have any more information about yourself? What's your skill level? What tournaments have you won?

Sell the Scruggs and get a cheap player that should help. It ain't the arrow it's the Indian... When you win that tournament you'll be on your way!

How do I play. Well I'm one of the best around this area. You can look me up on this website and see what I use to do our what I have done in tourneys. My problem was I was I got married and so my family comes first now, but worth this donations I could do something I've always wanted to do with other people's help. Also as for selling that Scruggs I can't do that bc it means to much to me to sell. Thank you for checking out my post.

With all due respect, it looks like you have been a member since 2008 yet this is the first time you have decided to post anything to the main forum. I see you like the selling section but even that only a limited number of postings over such a long time.

There are dozens of subjects on here to comment on everyday, or provide some insights from your experiences. You have had no interest in posting to the forum or interacting with fellow members all these years? Now you expect people, total strangers, to give you $20,000 so you can play pool in tournaments!

Go ahead and make your case, I am open minded, heck I may send you money. Tell me why I should give you money.

I'll get right on that, wouldn't want to inconvenience you by asking for a summary of your pool life.

You could have leveraged a huge pool community with a little forethought and maybe even met your goal, but instead chose to approach it like you did. If you would have spent any time here outside the for sale section you would know by now this thread is going to end badly.

Thank you for the response but it's not really what I was after. You are looking to drop a career and pursue pool instead and I was wondering how realistic a dream that is for you.

What is your speed? How big of a pack have you run? Have you placed in any national tournaments? What's your handicap in the various leagues?

We all have dreams but I don't know you and you are asking for a pretty big sum of money. It's not something you can just do without at least trying to sell yourself and providing more info than the fact that it has been your dream for a long time.

It has been my dream as well and I'm sure there are a lot of others on here with the same dream but why do you feel that you stand out?

I'm not trying to be mean I'm just trying to help you out. If your story is compelling and you have the speed to back up your dream I'm sure backers will step up but the harsh reality is that we have to make our dreams come true and not expect others to do it for us. If you haven't put in the time and effort to differentiate yourself from every other league player than you probably don't have the drive to make your dream a reality.

It's one thing to want a dream... It's another to have the drive to accomplish it. When you want something more than you want to breath is when you will accomplish it. When you sit for 4 hours a day shooting the same shot over and over for a week because it's the shot you missed in the last tournament- that is drive and if you have that and express it to people on here you will have a much easier time getting donations.

Just telling people to 'go look it up' will never work and instead is kind of insulting when you are asking them for money. That being said, I too have an open mind and give you the benefit of the doubt so tell us why you deserve this.

Here's a suggestion. I mean, if you are the best in your area. Play in every tournament you can there. If there are a few money leagues, build an all star team, and maybe even give a few lessons. Play some cash games. And all money goes into your "pool account" to use on the tournament you chose to go to .

Earn the money yourself from pool, and let pool finance your dream. Not sure why all the other folks who work full time with families need to pay your way to play pool. Also, nothing on your site includes anything about how this "investment" is going to help them if you win a few big tourney's ??

Are you spreading the cheese after you win ?

Here's another thought. Have you asked your family to support your dream? Have you asked the pool players in your area as well? How much did they put up? Just another curious member here...

Fellow Azers........I've decided that it's now or never for me to pursue my lifelong dream of becoming a portrait painter......I've won a lot of contests locally and been told
I have more talent than anyone since Rembrandt. But you will appreciate how life deals us the hand we have to play and so I never was able to save to go overseas to
study painting.

However, if you could see your way to lend a helping hand to kick start my new career.....I will mention you in my autobiography........"The P's of My Life - Painting & Pool"
for donations of $100 or more and for $500, I'll make something up about you that sounds really swell and mention you in my autobiography that's not yet been written and
for a $1000, well that will gets you into several of the book's chapters.

Thanks for your kind & Christian like financial support......please add 3.5% in case you decide to send your donation via Paypal....prefer money be sent as a gift which it
obviously is. By the way, at the last art contest I won, the judges told me they'd never seen any artist ever draw stick people with more straight arms & legs than how I paint
them. Just imagine what I could do if I took some lessons. My stick people paintings were described as "radical"...."bold"......"painted with bravado"......."brazen & creative"

In closing, please accept my thanks in advance of your donation and let me add that the art world, and myself, genuinely appreciate your kind patronage. And just in case
funds are tight for some of you, please consider my $50 "special"........you will be mentioned in the book's Foreward section as one of my oldest childhood pals.

Matt

p.s. Keep sending me your e-mails about wealthy Africa princes that need someone in the USA to act as their intermediary......By the way, how's that working our for you?

That is actually the answer. His pool playing is a hobby he enjoys and he needs to find a way to be able to pay for it. Usually that means sacrificing a little and putting your priorities in order. Not asking someone else to finance your hobby. Like most hobbies they cost money.

Whether you play golf or like fishing, whatever you spend what you can afford to for your fun and if you don't have it, you do without. Life is sometimes not fair. A lot of people wish they could spend everyday fishing but unless they can find a way to pay for it, too bad.

As long as we are on the subject of donations I have always wanted to own a Mercedes Benz.
My Qualifications are as follows:
I have been driving since 1964 with an outstanding record.
I always take good care of my cars
Any local AZ member that donates can get free pool lessons
Please help an old man realize a life long dream.
Thank you for reading this.

Whoops, I just clicked on the link and see you are up to $155.00 bucks so far. What's up with the couple that gave you $5.00 bucks?? The wife's name is Faith but I am not sure if that's really true cause it's on the internet. Kinda funny though when you think about it!

Could be the two for $100. and $50. are just to prime the pump and not real. I read something about that website and it seems they keep the money in like an escrow account. When it came time for someone to get the money out they had problems getting their money.

On a serious note here, those other guys before me are obviously pranksters. AZB has : 46,618 members, if I could get each and every member to spare a mere $2.00, (who does not have an extra $2.00 they can share with those less fortunate) I will have $96,236.00, which should achieve my goal of purchasing a new Corvette. I would like to thank you in advance for your generosity.

:p Best line of the thread so far!

Here is a suggestion to the OP since you obviously do not want to earn enough money to pursue your dream. Find a nice exit ramp or busy intersection and make a cardboard sign that says ... "Please help me finance my dream ... thank you." Oops, that might be too time consuming and almost be like work. Sorry, bad idea. :nanner:

Okay fast1....I'm down for the $2 on the corvette.....but I have to at least get to have my photo taken behind the wheel.......for $50, can I get to drive it?

Oh yeah.....back to this thread.....pitiful, shameful, arrogant, pompous, egotistical with a heavy dash of egocentric and just fat ass lazy.......that about pretty much sums it up.

Just some FYI...... I play poker like a professional when I'm gambling with other people's money........and when I lose, it also doesn't cost me as much either.....sweet deal.

So you're one of the best in your area. I don't know all the excellent players in South Carolina, however, Stevie Moore lives there so it is unlikely you're the best in your state. Stevie has a full time job. So how is it you think your dream has a chance of becoming reality? It seems at best, the top 5 professionals in the USA make anywhere close to a living adequate to support a family.

With all that said, the facts and the numbers indicate your "dream" is just that, a dream. If you win a number of local and regional tournaments, with players of Stevie 's caliber competing, your dream might seem feasible. With hard work, discipline and buy in from your family, you should be able to do that without donations. Accomplishing that would improve your chances of receiving donations. Even better, if you do that, perhaps you could interest investors.

Greg, you come off like a panhandler on a street corner. Maybe you just want some money to buy a beer for all we know. If you REALLY wanted to play in some "big" tournaments, you would get off your ass (and your computer) and find a way to make it happen! If you work real hard and scrounge and save you might even make it to the U.S. Open in October. Use your own resources and brains to raise the necessary capital, don't come begging on here. That won't work!
