Help! I need a new cue

lol - BEWARE of guys with old rusty wedges in their bags (there's a reason they still have them :wink: ).

As for the cue, lots of good advice here, but I say stash it away, and find a different one to play with (new or old - read: made by Evan or Runde). The magic isn't in the stick, it's in the guy using it. :cool:

Absolutely! Just like you said. The magic is in the man! I remember gambling with him one day and he missed the 16th green short, pin short. Fairway cut, but with no green to work with. DEAD!! I was in the center of the green, one down, and told him I have him. He said he would bet the press that he would chip in................and he did.

He said "never doubt Rusty", and from then on I didn't.

I appreciate your cue advice by the way, and I hope to follow it!
 
I purchased a 2nd. hand Schon st1 for $265.00. I had a leathed wrap put on an a med. kamui tip. The cue to me has the feel of a $1000.00 cue. You just might want to try something like that. :cool:

I have always liked the solid hit of a Schon. I like a fairly heavy cue with a solid tip. I don't care what it looks like as long as it plays solid.

I suggest to keep on playing with your mentor's Schon. But, maybe you should just get another Schon further honoring him and continuing to shoot with a cue with similar traits.

FWIW, it's Josswest, not Josh. The name "Josh" might have been Bill or Dan's dog, but it had nothing to do with the original Joss name. My friend Tim Scruggs mispronounces Joss as "josh" all the time, but I think it's more of a Maryland speech thing, with the slight whistle with the 's' sound. Those who visit the mid-Atlantic states know what I'm talking about. It sounds damned sexy when it's a woman; not so sexy with Tim Scruggs.

If the shaft has the Schon name on it, then it was made during the Evan Clarke era of Schon (1993 - present). And of course, Evan already made cues for Schon during the Bob Runde era.
