Help Identify, Might Sell

Hey guys, I have no info on this cue other than its a full splice and a 5/16x18 piloted joint..It belonged to an older guy about an hour ago...Might sell, Might Keep, its pretty light weight and i like that about it..

It looks to me Capone cue or Lambros :)

Its a Lucasi prototype (just kidding:) )


:thumbup: my guess is Richard Black. Kinda tricky though due to the long points.

Although, the ring+piloted joint+joint+pin+buttsleeve and buttcap all seems to be mr, black's work.

I dont know if it was refinished or not but there is no name. Im guessing it may have been and the name was removed..The butt cap looks very white/genereic looking to me..I will post a pic of the inside of the butt and see if that helps any....Thanks so far guys...Not bad for $140 hopefully

Sorry camera I have is too low quality to take a pic of inside butt to even make worth posting...Will try to acquire another camera

It's a full splice butt, but without removing the wrap you can't tell if there's a handle in there.

The pin and pilot are longer than I am used to seeding.

The butcap is white acrylic, not delrin.
 
I had a cue similar to that and it was a Joss from around 1968 to 1972. The wood in your cue is the same as the one I had and so is the ring work. Dan Janes told me that for a ver very short time they did use a 5/16 18 pin before going back to the 5/16 14. Those cues play good.

Your right "Dirty" it is white, I dont know if it was the original or if it was replaced when may have had it refinished..I just didnt know if this was a cheaper adams or helmstetter knock of kinda thing...the points look too good from what ive seen to be it though..I may be keeping it so a re-wrap is in the future..I just didnt know if it was worth it or not..It has the weight screw that holds the butt cap on but it is stripped out...Looks like someone was trying to get it off and drilled it out or something, I cant tell if it was a Flathead or Allen bolt...The bumper was held in by a small screw that goes into that stripped out bolt though...Alot of people used those dash rings but it does have that Richard Black or Joss kinda look to it...Does anyone know if Joss or Black had anything written under their wraps?

I would concur on the Joss, there is a few Black components in this cue, but I have never seen the 5/16 x 18 joint, but I can't be for certain.
Love the long ponts, may possibly be a very nice find for you.

I dont know about $210. We will see how broke i am and what i come up with on here first..I really like the weight of it..Those dash rings are kiling me though..The pin is kinda long to me but i havent really seen that many 18 thread pins so maybe its an optical illusion to me, but my friend said the same thing..Does anyone have a pic of the older joss' that used that pin for a while. If so any identifyable markings other than the buttcap?
 
I did verify that in the early 70's joss did use this thread but does anyone know if there are any other features to look for in these cues
 
if you look at the joint pic there is a color to one of the dashes in the shaft..maybe something stained on that one spot or a diff type of wood. its very hard to tell..might not be an original shaft..i dunno...just pointing this out to help id this cue..was this dash ring used in 68-early 70's by joss? Who else used this thread and dash ring?
 
I was gonna say Palmer, also. Bicentennial? With those color veneers, didn't they make a Bicentennial version of the PB6?
 
i think the bicentennial cue was in the 3rd catalog preoid accually make by EB not overseas. pretty sure palmer didnt start making cues oveseas til '78ish. bicentennial was '76

It should be a great player if you'll have it refinish and add a preddy shaft!
