Help identify this cue, please?

Just curious.. is that a standard 3/8-10 pin? I ask because it looks more like a modified 3/8-10 in some of your pictures. I don't know how long that pin has been available, but I would make sure what pin you actually have (if you haven't already).

I have not verified the thread pitch, but I am pretty sure of it. It might be a little difficult to tell from the pictures, but I think the depth of the threads is much deeper than the modified 3/8x10 one I think you are referring to...

Thanks for the input, email sent to Mr. Medlin! -Josh

Response received from Mr. Medlin was inconclusive as he built some similar cues, but all were signed and he did not believe this was one of his. Gary went on to suggest that it could be from Mike Johnson, Jenson Cues, as he used to use a decal back then and it could have worn off.

Email sent to Mike Johnson. Thanks for all the help! -Josh

EDIT
Response from Mike was a definitive no, so back to the drawing board. Thanks for everyone's input!

I believe I made this cue but the buttplate itself looks like it has been replaced.

The screw holding the current buttplate on looks like one of mine.

this could be big news. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Still looks like the work of Gary Medlin, GEM Cues Lake Charles LA.

Indeed, it has resemblance to a variety. That's why it has taken so long to nail it down I guess. But it seems Mr Stroud recognizes the cue.

I was reading this story and it is a great one. So did you ever verify the cuemaker? Just curious. Thank you for the great story.

Mr. Bill Stroud saw this thread in May of last yeat and claimed the work as one of his, noting that the buttcap had been replaced.

We exchanged several PM's regarding the cue in which he explained it was an early custom order cue, built when he first moved to Aspen. He recommended I have the buttcap replaced to original, but by then had gotten out of building cues and could not do the work. The conversation with Mr. Stroud was enough to convince me of it's origin, but I have not yet attempted to find anyone to duplicate the original parts. Glad you enjoyed the read! -Josh
