Many of you who have been on AZ for a few years know that I have put many old pool photos taken by myself and Mike Haines in posts here on AZ and in our Smugmug galleries (billporter.smugmug.com). There were images from one tournament that I never edited and uploaded because I wasn't able to identify the tournament at which the shots were taken. I am pretty sure it was a Clyde Childress tournament back in the early to mid 1980s, but I'm not certain of the year. Another reason I didn't put these images in a gallery is that I could not find the original negatives and I like to go back to scan the negatives if possible. Still another reason for not working with these images is that there was a camera malfunction that caused the left side of the images to be drastically underexposed as you can see in the photos below.
I recently came across the prints from this tournament and decided that they could and should be salvaged and placed in a gallery, but only if I can be sure of which tournament they depict. So maybe JAM or Freddy or someone can help me here. I know from the size of the trophies in the photos that Buddy Hall won the tournament and that Larry Hubbart was second. Though you can't see him in the images below, that is Allen Hopkins in third place.
Hey, Jay Helfert, if you need images from this tournament for your book, let me know.
And finally, could anyone tell me if that is Walter Tevis in the stands behind Hopkins as he is shooting? (The guy in the glasses and dark shirt.)
