Help me decide new case

You are as big a jerk that everyone says you are.
I would carry my cues in a card board tube before I would buy a case from you.
I asked for help deciding which case to buy not to have you hawk your ugly cases.

Nah, I am a bigger jerk. People always underestimate how big of a jerk I can be. You need to specify that case makers should not attempt to help you if you don't want those who actually build cases to chime in.

And you should also specify that no one is allowed to have a tangential conversation in "your" thread. Especially AFTER you have received the help and purchased a case.

My ugly cases? Oh that's just mean.

Surely they aren't all ugly?

How about this one....

Or this one?

OK I'll admit the cases you posted are double ugly and i would be embarrassed to carry any of them.

Wait a minute...... you was considering a porper case..... The flagship case that inspired the rugged case and several other case designs....ugly huh?
If anything, that talisman case is flat out tacky!

I am sure you would be. Well luckily for you our embarrassingly ugly cases are way out of your price range. And if you care to share your name with me, if you ever told me in the past I forgot it, I will be happy to add you to the do-not-sell-to list to insure that should you reconsider your vow if you happen to find a JB Case that you think is pretty and would like to own we would help you out by refusing to take your money.

Perhaps this case my wife made is more to your liking and fits your needs better?

Just another example of your lunacy.
Don't worry I will not order one your canvas cases.

you two need to avoid each other - this is not painting either of you in good light.

I wouldn't worry so much about what a case looks like on the outside as much as the protection provided for your cue(s). What is the value of the cue(s) you plan to protect? I have a close friend who will not pay more than $150 for a 3X6 or 4X8. Needless to say he normally doesn't get much protection for the buck, and he will put $4000-$7000 worth of cues in them. Never understood it. If you aren't too worried about longevity of a cue, no bid deal. I know others who don't worry about banging their cues around, so protection is not what they care about. In that case buy anything and just worry about aesthetics.

I bought it from Phil The Fin a professional rail bird.
I paid $250 to be paid in payments.
He is 77 years old and asked if I could pay it off before he dies.
I asked him how he was feeling
He said good.
Rats!

That's a great looking case and in perfect shape. Real leather?

Lol, if I was worried about my "reputation" I would have never posted a single thing here.

I don't care about someone who is anon on the web. "Measureman" can't make or break me in any way.

But if a person wants to make negative comments about our products and myself and then try to command me what to write and where to write it they had better have the authority to enforce those commands or be prepared for me to put my opinion down in response.

I have had plenty of "shut up or I won't buy your case" type of people come at me over the years. The response is always the same, "good, you're not taking a spot in line from those who do want our cases." People have this UNREASONABLE idea that they get to OWN a maker by waving a few dollars in front of them. I mean they haven't bought anything and probably wouldn't buy anything anyway but for some reason they think that the threat of continuing not to buy something is enough to purchase obedience to them.

I don't really understand that mentality. Wherever it comes from it's not valid when dealing with me. I don't owe anyone my obediance, my subservience, or my silence on the hope that they will buy a case. If you want those things you have to come with a lot more than money and internet anons don't qualify.

So respectfully, thank you for trying to broker peace but it's not required. I "paint" myself in EXACTLY the colors I want the world to see and as a result sleep very soundly knowing that no one can slip a few bucks in my g-string and command me to dance for them.

This case kind of embodies how I feel about it.

And aside from putting your name on it, what actual "work" did you, John Barton, do on that case? The leather work wasn't you. One of your employees built the case. So, aside from designing the interior, how much of a JB Case is actually completed by JB?

How do you know who did the leather work? Do you have a camera in my shop? Are you a partner in my business?

Actually ALL of my employees along with myself built that case. Not one of them. JB Cases is a team sport.

And you don't have any right to know one thing about our team and who does what. Especially you.

But I will tell you this much... on this particular case I pierced the nipple.

Email from JB to my personal email address. You must have used my email address from my payment to you for the case a few years ago.

Here's the email:
Shawn, you're never going to "get me" with any of the vectors you try. Sure there are always going to be a few people who agree with you the same as there are people who believe Hitler was a saint. There are always a few people in the John Barton is an asshole crowd who will send you love notes congratulating you on saying what "needs to be said".

But what you don't understand is that all you do is provide me with more legitimate opportunity to talk about our cases. And talk and talk and talk and talk...and post pictures and links and videos...and get more content into Google's database which pumps up my business. The more you attempt to put me down and harm us the more you actually help us.

And I appreciate that. I mean I don't like the way you go about it and the falsehoods you put out there but I certainly applaud your tenacity and the continued opportunities to respond and let people see our work and follow our links and find out for themselves if JB is such a bad guy as you try to make me out to be.

So by all means keep it up. I am glad you seem to have made me your personal project. If you need it I can point to you towards the "jb is a dick" support group.

Best,

John

John, please remove me from your email distribution list. This is harassment. Posting stuff on a board is one thing. You don't have any permission to talk with me using a thing such as my personal email address.

Kindly remove me from your contact list. And I don't want anyone from JB Cases or its subsidiaries contacting me, either.

Regards,

Shawn Armstrong

P.S. Folks, this is what you will get for giving this man your money. He has issues.
