Help me decide what to do with $5000

I would NEVER take $ out of my 401k, especially for a pool cue or boob job. Save a little from each pay check instead, buy $40 players cue for your kids to see if they even like pool and then keep saving to buy your wife what she wants:grin: . Best thing you can do is leave that $ in your 401k. I don't think it was meant to be used as an ATM. Good luck to you! :)

401k untouchable

I have decided at the first of next year to take $5000 out of my 401k and buy my holy grail cue one that I will keep forever and even leave to my children.I have not decided on what cue I will buy or even who I will have make it but I want to spend the whole 5 G's I might even buy a Gus but I just don't know for sure. And so I am talking to my wife about this telling her what I have been pondering on and to get her opinion on what to buy, when she says you can buy your ultimate cue or get me BREAST IMPLANTS.Well my mouth falls open and I am dumbfounded for a moment, then I think hmmm breast implants I could get some tigobitties to play with. I mean if I buy this awesome cue I will more than likely never play with it and it will just be a case queen and rarely see light. But new breasteses oh the fun I or I mean we could have the possibilities are endless. So I am really thinking hard about this and the pro's and con's of each,Sure I would have worlds of fun with those new pillows but if god forbid we ever got divorced well then some other hard leg will get to have all the fun with MY love bags, but if I buy my megga cue I will have it forever and it will never let me down or let anyone else play with it unless it gets my permission first. So what should I do I am really sitting on the fence with this dellima and would like to know A.Z.'s opinion.I would like to have both but that is just not $$ possible.Sorry for the long read, but I would just like to know what someone else would do in this sittuation,,Thanks,,:indecisive: :indecisive: :indecisive:
Why would you withdraw money from your best retirement vehicle? Also, given the state of the market, your timing could not be worse. Take your wife on a 2nd honeymoon & affirm that, in your eyes, she is the sexiest woman on the planet.

Well, all though I'm sure you would be happy playing with either ;) normally you can not just withdraw money from your 401k. Usually it has to come in the form of a loan and has to be paid back. Have you checked with your plan administrator? Personally I would never borrow money from a 401k, but thats me.

Plus you would have to pay tax on the $5,000 your taking out early I believe. Johnnyt

Both are a waste of money. 5k on a cue is only for the rich. If you are using 401k to fund this, you aint rich...

No matter how much cash you drop in your ol lady, eventually, you will get bored with her. It happens to EVERY beautiful woman sooner or later. The day will come when your Ds will be nowhere near as appealing as a new, to you, set of Bs...

In addition, spending $500 on 10 nice hookers will be worth WAY more to you on your death bed than playing with fake titties for the rest of your days...

Anyways - your really wasting good money either way. Certainly not the best idea for 5k...

Stake me and turn that $5k into $20k, put the $5k back, get your $5k cue and keep the extra $10k for yourself.

I guess I might be venturing beyond the box here but...

what does a dollar figure have to do with getting the best cue for you and your style of play?

do you want something to play pool with or something to show off to your friends as a $5000 cue?

my lifelong cue cost just under $500 ... and I wouldn't trade it for a signed Balabushka..

First, there's no need to spend 5 grand on a nice pool cue. You can get a really nice cue for half that. I'm talking big names like Gina, Mottey etc... 5 grand is a lot of cue. Second, I don't think you're gonna touch a Gus for 5 thousand. Third, tell your wife to STFU and I'm ashamed that you would even consider letting her do something like that to herself. Unless her chest is inverted like an 8 year old boyscout then there is no need for her to be ruining her body like that. Big silicon jugs are disgusting.

Good luck with what you decide on. And hey, if you're just going to buy a trophy to stick in a case and only take out for people to look at then just go ahead and stop now. Cues are made to be played with.

Why in the world would you spend $5,000.00 on a cue and just look at it in the case? I don't understand your thinking. As someone else said , if you don't have a table at home buy one and then with the money left over buy a decent cue and use them both.Spending that much on eye candy and never using it , to me spend it on your wife's boobs and let everyone look at them.---Smitty

Not to be negative, but that is a bad idea. That 5K that you remove could turn out to be a 25K stick when it is all said and done. Save your $$ or go through a cue dealer that will let you finance it. But leave the 401K alone. Goodness knows that with what is coming up with this economy, we are going to need every dime we have. You dont want to be one of those 70 year old persons who cant enjoy their retirement because of a judgment call. Please talk to your financial advisor first.
Besides, if you spent most of that money on a cue and then some hick from N.C. came in with a Philippi SP (jk Chewtabacco) came in and busted you. That might be enough to push you over the edge.

The decision is of course yours, but I went through that high $$ phase once and found out about the Indian and the arrow. I guess now I have learned to relax and not have that high of 'expectations' and the pressure to have to be spot on is gone and I have picked up quite a bit of speed.

For 5 grand I would order, direct from Ernie, the fanciest Gina he could build for that amount.

It is your money, do what you want. However, if you are set on purchasing a cue, I believe this is the best advice.

Pay taxes, yes...plus an additional early withdrawal penalty. I'm not an accountant but I think taking an early distribution from a 401(k) of $5000 would net about $3k after Uncle Sam get's his cut.

Source of funds notwithstanding, it's an interesting dilemma.

Totally agree, 401k is for retirement not for a cue. If you order a cue and it takes say two years to make you could pay the guy 250 a month and never touch ur retirement. Plus you have to pay a penalty to take out 5k without a good reason.

easy, take out 6k - 2500 awesome cue, 3500 awesome boobs. win-win.

and yes, I have checked the prices on both.
