Help me make a list of the best Acuu-Stats

I just joined the video of the month club with accu-stats.

Pat suggested that I create a list of matches they should send me each month. When the list runs out, they will just send me matches of whatever discipline I like.

I enjoy all games. One pocket would be my favorite.

Could you suggest some good matches I can add to my list

The match doesn't even have to be that good I enjoy some good commentary as well.

I have heard that Mike Sigel's 150 run against Mike Zuglan at the 1992 US Open 14.1 is a must see.

If you enjoy one pocket, get the 2006 Derby City finals. It is two matches with Efren vs. Alex and Efren vs. Jason Miller. It is probably the best run out one pocket I have ever seen. Efren is at an amazing level.

Another one is Corey Deuel vs. Shannon Dalton. I think it is a Legends of One Pocket or World One Pocket tourney from 2001. It is different than anything else you will ever see.
 
The finals of the 2007 Derby City One Pocket division is probably the best match you can get. It is one of the few matches with Reyes vs. Joyner. The first game alone is worth the price as it is a game that lasts forever without actually turning into a boring up-table end game; lots of good moving.

If you can get Pat to sell it to you get the Varner vs. Fusco match from the Legends of One Pocket - Philly Style. This one shows some good end game strategies in it. You would have to watch this without sound as the audio is messed up which is probably why Pat took it out of the store.

Here are some of my personal favorites, if you don't mind my including a couple of my matches:
Efren vs Shannon at one of my Baton Rouge Legends events. Pat will know which one.
Jimmy Fusco vs Varner player review at Legends tournament at Pete Fusco's Family Billiards.
Grady vs Varner race to 5 exhibition match in Detroit, 1997
Hopkins Vs Rempe 14.1 with commentary by me and Jack Colavita
My two inning game of straight pool at " The Maine Event", 1995
9 Ball miracle match starring Varner and Sigel at the US Open
Get the last two Bank Pool ring games at the DCC. The play is spectacular.
 
If you are looking for one pocket, don't forget Jimmy Fusco vs Jimmy Rempe with Freddie B. commentating. GREAT learning tool.

Ho and Buddy Hall in the finals of the US Open, it's a clinic... If you like 8 ball, most of the matches are good. The 2008 14.1 was great. And the 2000 US open straight pool is another great set of tapes. And of course The Color Of Money match with Earl, and Efren is a, most have.

And don't forget about the stuff from TAR, priceless...

Great 1-hole match

One of my favorites is Steve Cook vs. Billy Incardona (sp?).

Its an old 1-hole match, I don't remember from what year or where they played but I can't watch that video enough.
 
a Great 9 Ball match is the 2007 Turning Stone. Dennis Hatch vs Mika, dennis shoots like a .990.....freakin amazing !!!!!

Congrats for finding Accu-stats! You have a big advantage because they run lots of sales on some of the older matches they are deleting from they're line.

Start with your favorite players.

Next all recommended matches. I was skeptical about "recommended" matches but I haven't found a dog yet.

Not a part of the thread but I hope Grady Mathews and Billy Incardona (I learned more from the two of you than you'll ever know) get back in the booth one or both were commentators for my favorite matches.

I stopped buying tapes/DVD because most or all commentary I hear from the newer matches are not Accu-Stats quality.

I can watch pro pool on the internet, but 1st class commentary (that's where Accu-stats used to come in) is a dying art. Somebody telling stories or what they had for dinner (sometimes during the match) is not commentary!

I've never seen a match that I didn't enjoy, but I just LOVE watching Sigel breaking his cue stick when he played John Schmidt. Hahaha .. priceless.
 
Thank you all for your input.

I have a small collection currently. What I have found is that once you go accu-stats, the pool watching bar will be raised. Pat and his crew do an unbelievable job. Very easy to get spoiled when watching their top notch quality.

I haven't seen that one was the match a good one or was Sigel breaking his cue the highlight?

People mention Sigel v Zuglan that has to be the Irving crane 150 and out of our time.
 
i know you askeed for accu stats but you mentioned that 1 pocket was your first choice, if you don't already own it you need to get the challenge match between ronnie allen and danny diliberto, some great one pocket play.

The match you refer to is actually from the 2000 World One Pocket Championships and is # 1P00-06 in the Accu-Stats listings. Grady and Johnny Ervolino did the commentary. Must see. And must hear! :grin:

The greatest 9 ball match I ever saw, and that's saying something, is Nick Varner vs Mike Sigel in the 1990 U.S. Open 9 Ball Championship. Tape # 159B-02.

14.1 is my favorite discipline. I liked the Oliver Ortmann vs Steve Mizerak match for the 1989 U.S. Open 14.1 Championships (F) and not for the reason you may think at first. The Jim Rempe vs Larry Lisciotti match from the 1995 Maine Event has some great commentary and funny stories, plus good shooting. The Grady Mathews vs Dallas West match, also from the 1995 Maine Event is really entertaining.

The Efren Reyes vs Mike Sigel match from the 2000 U.S. Open 14.1 Championships has some incredible break shots from the Magician. The Dallas West vs Nick Varner match from the 1992 U.S. Open 14.1 Championships is a great all-around tape.

The John Schmidt vs Mike Sigel match from the 2000 U.S. Open 14.1 Championships has John shooting unbelieveably risky shots against one of the greatest cueists of all time (Sigel). You'll also see "Captain Hook" snap his cue out of frustration.

One more "must see and must hear" 1P tape is # 1P98-05, which is Buddy Hall vs Ray Martin. In the booth is Billy, Freddy Bentivegna, (another super funny and very gifted commentator), and their partner is Ronnie Allen!

Anything that has Grady and or Billy in the booth is always great. And really, I don't know of any match that wasn't worth the price paid. Pick a favorite player and then get an appropriate tape.
