JR Players Qualifying Tour and Nationals
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Viking Cue JR 9-Ball Tour is currently seeking kid friendly rooms all over the US along with TD's or Room Owners that are willing to donate their time directing the 50 events we plan on hosting for the JR players.

The JR player tour will feature very low fees to room owners ( $$ Based on your needs and sponsorship products received ) and very low entry fees to the JR players ($20). All of which will be accumulated for the Viking Cue 9-Ball Tours JR Nationals in 2009. All monies collected from the JR players will be paid back 100% to the JR players at the end of year nationals. All payouts will be in the form of a US savings Bond to the JR Players. (Note: If a JR players wins $2,500 in cash they will receive a $5,000 US Savings Bond in lieu of the cash payment.)

TD's and Room Owners, please call Mike Janis if you would like to be a part of this program. I can easily be reached on my cell phone anytime at 1-800-200-POOL (7665) .

Room owners, these JR events will only take a few hours in your pool room on either Saturday (DAY) or Sunday (Day) and will greatly benefit the future of our sport.

From the Viking Cue JR 9-Ball Tours Promotional Information Distributed at the BCA Trade Show

The Viking Cue "Junior" 9-Ball Tour was founded in April of 2007. Since it's inception the Junior tour has had over 600 Junior billiard athletes in our events.
Right now the junior player division gets our highest attention. The junior players are the crown jewel of the Viking Tour. These players will recognize the sponsors that helped to get them started and will more than likely become future consumers of our sponsors products. The Viking Tour and Viking Cues Mfg. strongly believes that investing in the juniors program is the future of our sport.
In the coming year, the Viking Tour will host fifty junior tournaments. Your sponsorship of the Viking Tour supports this program.

The sponsors that have jumped on board this program have donated many products that the Viking Cue JR 9-Ball Tour will use as gifts to the host locations in return for any fees charged. These fees will guarantee a scheduled National Championship and Promotional costs to help bring new JR players into our sport and your locations.

Room Owners, friends, and players alike. Due to a current trend in smoking laws, alcohol laws and such it has become increasingly difficult for the JR players to find a healthy environment that they are allowed to play in. As a result of this trend we are on the verge of losing the next generation of players and aspiring pros in our sport. I urge you to participate in this program or we highly recommend the BEF's ( http://www.billiardeducation.org ) programs to help combat this trend. I hope you feel the same sense of urgency as we at the Viking Tour feel and you do your best to help encourage the next generation of players.

Respectfully,

Mj

Anybody interested ?

Now where are all those guys and gals that always offer to help our sport grow we we need them. The ones that talk about all the ideas and really want to help.

I know you are out there somewhere.

The funny part is my Wife just asked me where I was going to find the time for this program. I told her I wuld take it out of the time I will have off from doing events in the future if this program doesn't fly.

Are you out there?

Mike, let me know what I can do to help. Our area has virtually no place for juniors to play, and therefore no juniors, but I will gladly help out. Matt

Seems most events are far from NE, how well would this work on the East Coast? The room I play in RI is just pool, no drinking, and is one of the cleanest rooms I have ever seen. No need to wash your hands every 30 mins :-) Chalks Billiards. I will forward this to the manager there.

Every other room without a liquor license I know has closed.

Bank Shot in downtown Louisville doesn't have a bar and you're not required to be 21 to play there. It seems like it would be just as kid friendly as any other room - I see kids there every now and then.

Thanks for the help guys. Our sport really needs programs like these.

After making a ton of phone calls today we are going to try and raise the number of qualifiers to 128 and allow the top two JR players from each event to come to the nationals.

If anyone want to get involved the program is real simple.

All you have to do is get your local "Kid Friendly" pool room to donate their space and table time on Sundays and you to donate your time to directing the event and send me the dates and times then I will list it on our schedule.

I will provide as much advertising for the event as possible along with rule books and tournament charts and the player registration forms. From there, you run the event and send the Viking Tour the info and we will list the results on accumulated prize money totals on our site for the Junior players.

While you, our helpers are doing your part we will be setting up dates and a location and/or locations for the Viking Cue 9-Ball Tours "Junior" Nationals and have them announced at the same time we put out the dates for each qualifier.

We would like the Qualifiers to begin in November so we have a little time to get the word out and recruit as much help as possible.

Thanks everyone and good luck with getting your dates and locatios set up.

If you would like to participate please email, PM or call Mike Janis at the below.

Mike, I would suggest you contact Hard Times in Bellflower. It is a non alcohol room. If they agree to host a Juniors event, I will act as TD for it.

Nice of you to offer your time Jay.

Mike
I will check around and see if anybody here is interested. New owners are taking over the room I usually play in. They might be interested. I'll let you know.

someone mentioned new england - contact Shooters in Southington Connecticut - Sal Conti is the owner. also, Rick Molineiro in Glen Burnie, Maryland at Big Daddy's - he just put on the MD straight pool qualifier. Shooters has beer/wine (and a video game area), but is no smoking (or it was when I moved) and Big Daddy's is dry, no smoking. just some thoughts - not sure if they would be interested, but who knows. would like to see the kids have a place to play, my two nephews love to play but don't have the option because of their location in Texas.

Mike, I will gladly host one of these events, either at Highpockets in Memphis or Southaven Recreation Center just in Mississippi south of Memphis. Again, it was a pleasure working with you and Teri last week!

Hey, Bill & Mike...
Just to let you know, Tony & I had a blast in Memphis! That 6 1/2 hour drive home was a killer though.

And Mike, good luck with this venture. Let me know if you get one closer to Texas, I have 3 girls that want to start playing.

(Look ! My first post!)

Hi Mike,

I will approach the room owners around here in southern OR. If I can also find someone in the Seattle area to be the TD, I know of a few places they could be held.

Could you please give a comprehensive list of donations to present to the room owner? Other than helping the youth in our sport, it would be nice to list the benefits for the room owner.

Thanks Linda, I knew i could count on you in your area.

Right now we are in the middle of a few sponsorship changeovers as some of our 8, 4, 2 and 1 year contracrs are switching over to new companies along with some new ones. As soon as our Nationals are over I will be allowed to publically post all the changes but until that time I am just seeking locations that may be interested and people willing to help out. I gurantee you that it will be real friendly on the pockets of the owners.
