Hey guys,
Gotta say I'm super bummed right now...
I just got a like-new ob-1 in the mail today from SwissChris - who I must say first of all is at NO fault in this situation, he was a great seller.
After letting it come to room temperature for several hours, I went to the tables to do the usual tests. I didn't even shoot a full rack with it as I was meeting a deadline for tonight, but everything met my expectations and I really enjoyed the hit, so I packed up pretty quickly.
The shaft had the some of the tiny splinters that I had heard about in ob shafts, but it wasn't really a big deal as they were pretty far down the shaft. I just took it home and gave it the usual magic eraser and micro grit sandpaper routine. After I was done cleaning and lightly sanding the shaft, I was using a leather burnisher on it stroking it through my closed bridge just to feel it.
Well imagine my surprise when a CHUNK of wood splintered off the shaft when I stroked it through my bridge at a medium speed. I didn't even know what had happened until I turned the shaft over and THANK GOD I'm only 20 because if I was my dad's age that might have been the end for me
.
Anyway how there's a large splinter about 5/8ths of an inch long about 7 inches from the joint end of my shaft. I'm really quite distraught and I don't know what to do about it.
I took some pictures but they're a little blurry and I don't know how to put them up, plus I still have a ton of homework to do tonight.
Any suggestions as to what I should do are completely welcome. Also feel free to offer your services if you have handled this type of situation before.
Thanks everyone in advance
