If by cases you mean those beautiful wooden display cases that you make, I've heard that DHL does well in shipping those larger items. I had a 70 lbs boat motor shipped across the country and the DHL guy put it right inside my garage next to my boat before ringing the bell. Packing well is the key though. Try these foam corner protectors: http://www.uline.com/Browse_Listing_2154.asp?desc=Foam+Protectors Other such materials can be found by searching for packing materials on Google.

One of my case vendors uses DHL and the boxes rarely have a dent in them, much less any major damage.

I still ship with UPS, the have been reliable for me, but I know there are plenty of horror stories about them.

Ya might have to redesign the packaging. These packages get tossed around with packages of all sizes, weights, shapes, etc..., which makes the type of packaging, bubble wrap, and so forth even more critical.

By the way, your display cases are fabulous.

Ups

Destroyed a Jim Murnak case coming this way a couple months ago. It was packed like a sarcophagus too with foam collars and everything. Creased the leather, broke down the top as well. Jim started over when UPS finally paid.

Hi,
I have had the same problem when receiving some very large stereo speakers via UPS , and it took forever to straighen it out. I really don't know if it would be advantageous to you .. but you may have to use a trucking company to ship large or heavy items. UPS is too rough , and everything ends up on a conveyor belt.. just to be dropped onto the floor and treated very roughly.
Also FedEx is a much better company if the trucking is too expensive.

Kind Regards,
David

MrHoppe and I came with the same reply at the same time. Sounds like DHL is atleast worth checking into.

Good luck with your search.

Andrew - In my opinion, the key to avoiding most damage is to package very protectively... if it were me, I'd use use large diameter bubble wrap... and use it liberally... in other words, wrap the hell out of your cases and use tape to keep the bubble wrap where it belongs... around the whole perimeter of the case.

The peanuts and folded cardboard you used internally to protect my display case was totally ineffective. The display case was allowed to shift around inside the wooden shipping box and the case was damaged significantly as a result. I sent you pictures of the damaged case via email this morning. I trust that you have received it... and that we will be able to resolve this unfortunate situation.

Regarding other suggestions... what else may help as well is to use heavy cardboard for the shipping container. The wooden box you used to ship my case contributed to the damage that it received... just an idea for thought.

Dont Get Discouraged

I know how tough it is to get a small business going, but please don't get discouraged. You make a great looking product that I'm sure most pool players would love to have around their home table.

PACKAGE BETTER!!!!!!! :D

if YOU pack and don't use their requited packing materials UPS Ins DOES NOT have to pay, go to a UPS store and have THEM pack your item, then they and their Ins ARE resondsabile

I usually have good luck with DHL, but recently I had some damage from a shipment from England, and I still haven't got it straightened out. It was kind of a unique deal, though, so I'd still give them the nod.

If you have Saia or Swift trucking in your area, I've had good luck with both...

By the way...NICE CASES!

Steve
