Hello. I am trying to find out who made this cue. It is at least 10 years old and possibly 30 years old. It was suppose to be from an elderly gentleman that passed away in the late 70's. If not it was his son's who past away 10 years ago. That is where I get my time frame for the cue. If anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate your input. I have already ruled out Chuck Starkey. I do not know of many makers who used wood pins.

I think it's probably a 3-c cue, because of the wooden screw. If you post this in the 'Ask a Cuemaker' forum, you'd probably get an answer. You could also PM Dennis Dieckman here (magic wandzzz...or something like that). He makes these kind of cues, among others.

definitely a Mariposa

That is a Mariposa cue, the builder was Kyle Van den Bosch, from Chicago. His parents owned the Chicago Billiard Cafe.Jeff Carter, probably the best all around poolplayer from Chicago, shot with a Mariposa for years. Unfortunately, Kyle no longer builds cues.

Hopefully this helps.

Thank you

I just wanted to say thank you to those that responded and a special thanks to billiardshot for pointinng me in the right direction. Klye confirmed it is a Mariposa cue.

Very relieved to find this thread. I saw this cue on Chicago Clist today and knew I had seen it before. I was hoping it wasn't on the stolen thread! Very nice cue my man.

Mariposa means butterfly in spanish.

Nice looking cue.

Not to be confused with 'Mariposa de la Noche,' which means 'butterfly of the night' or 'prostitute' in some Spanish-speaking countries. :D

Not sure what you had to do to get that cue... ;) but it is pretty sweet.
