Hennessy And Scotty T.

who won the 3rd set???

Jon "Hennessey" won all three. I watched several games and Jon was in control the whole time. Scotty showed plenty of heart never giving up just as Nine Ball said. To his credit, Scotty gave just as much effort to giving Hennessey a tight rack even when he was getting whacked rack after rack. I watched Scotty practice when Jon went to play a match and he seldom missed. Jon's break was working and he ran out more frequently.

Hennessey was all business. I didn't perceive any attitude from him the whole day and night. Often he gets hammered for his attitude and just for the record , I didn't see it nor did I see him argue with anyone.

I asked him if he knew Ktown and when I said Ktown I got his attention and he smiled. I mentioned that Ktown had tried to call him when Scotty was making his comeback after being down 9 games and getting it back to zero. He said he was in action and didn't like to answer phone calls when he is in action. :D

Lil Steve and I are going to check out the pool hall this morning to see if we can get some action. Pinegar, Townsend, and Aboud are not on the menu. :D

I borrowed my road partner's laptop to make this post but probably won't be able to make any additional posts as we are checking out of the hotel which has the Internet access.

Nice tournament. It didn't finish up last night and the hogs are in the hunt for the most part. I got knocked out and finished 8th place in the tournament money and one place out of the Calcutta. One guy played so slow it was pitiful, he made Archer look like he was a greyhound.
I played the guy and I was fresh and took his slow play in stride and spanked him 7-2. As the night wore on, others couldn't take the slow play and complained to the tournament director and asked for him to be put on the shot clock. Tyler was his name and he was sloooooooooooooow. His nickname should be SNAIL, really...... He once took 5 minutes to shoot a shot. Lil Steve told me to do the same thing to him and I told Steve that I wasn't going to change anything I was doing as I was in control of the match.

Thanks JoeyA, for the update, sounds like the action is really gong on! ..wish I was there!

Tap! Tap! Tap! to you!

Henny can be brash sometimes but not stupid...

I think Hennessy may have been on his best behavior partially due to the fact that he knows Scotty won't put up with it one bit. If he thinks he can intimidate or take someone off their game with it, that's when the antics SOMETIMES show up. But I've only seen that while he's in a match. Otherwise, I've had nothing but good interactions with Jon off the table. I can say the same about Scotty, though I've only met him a couple of times. The results of the sets just follow the run of form that Jon has been on for the past few months, not suprised that he won. But then again, I wouldn't have been shocked to see Scotty take it down either. Good job on the updates Joey, rep to you.

Thanks for lookin out for a brother. He called me yesterday afternoon and gave me a rundown and told me they were gonna try to play another last night. I didn't want to post it because I didn't know if it was gonna come off or not.

Ol' Jon is playing lights out right now and as frequently as he has been playing in big action with big players I don't see his game dropping off soon. He is going to hang out with us at the Smokey Mountain Shootout at the end of April and it won't surprise me one bit if he doesn't snap that off too.

Well.I happened to be the action that JoeyA bumped into earlier today and I have to say after it was all said and done, the more I thought about it the more I realize how much of a blast I had playing Joey today.I'm sure he'll add to this a little when he sees the post.Joey was my first draw in the tourney yesterday and I played so bad it made me sick at my stomach(not really)but I think Joey toasted my nuts 7-2,I think.Well I went on to win the next 5 in a row before the owner shot my nuts off( he was playing very well I might add).Well I played pretty ruff against Joey my first match and was kinda wanting to redeem myself and I'll be damned if he didn't ask for some action not long after I walked thru the door today.I don't remember exactly how it all played out but I think we played the first three sets for $100 a set with Joey winning all three. Then the fourth set for $200 which I won leaving me $100 down. Then the last set for $300 that was very close after Joey had to play catch up.I think we were hill hill when I had a 9 on the snap to finish it off.We were racing to 9 in all the matches.I really enjoyed playing with Joey and hope to play with him again in the near future.Joey brings a strong game to the table. You cant take him lightly.Hope you and your sidekick had a safe trip home Joey.

"Hennessey" was displaying good behavior and civility to many people at this tournament )when Scotty wasn't around. While Scotty has a good effect on most people, I don't think Jon's behavior is tied to Scotty's expectations.

Jon interacted with other players including myself. Showed some shots, let me hit some balls with his very nice Pat Diveney cue and answered many questions.

Thanks for the REP.

Rickey,
It was nice meeting you. You got the numbers right. :D

I lost to you but I have to say that I too enjoyed playing you as well. You showed a lot of class, a lot of gamble and were a pleasure to play with. I hope to see you at Buffalo Billiards in Metairie, LA one day.

Sending you a little REP for that honest appraisal. :D
Best Regards,
JoeyA

I have seen Hennessey act many times. I can say, even without being there, he was on his best behavior because -
1)Scotty
2)He was winning. See Jon when he is losing or feeling the heat, and the true Hennessey comes out every time.

See this is why you should play by the game... sounds like joey would have won if you guys played by the game. I'll never play a race if i dont have to.

The nits will pull up on you if they lose a few games. Rickey isn't one of those as you can tell by the record.

I don't like to play by the game because if you do happen to show a little speed, the other player is often looking for an excuse to fill in a commentating job, their back is hurting or some other such nonsense just to get out of playing. :)

Another little subtle dig. You do keep it going.

I like to play sets myself. My game is so up & down I am liable to lose by quite a few games one set & then win a couple of sets on a row. There are some players you can play by the game, but you have to know your players and stay away from playing by the game with the ones who have one foot out the door when you start.

I'll also play a set of 9 ball & a set of one pocket with the understanding we are going to play one of each. Hope we run into each other some day and get a chance to play. John Henderson

Whatever do you mean, John? I have no idea what you are referring to. I was just explaining to Donnie a couple of reasons why one should not play by the game. I'm glad you agree with me.

As to playing you some pool, which is your weakest game? I might ought to try that first.

But seriously, it is always fun to play another AZer some pool and I look forward to meeting you one day as well.

My weakest game is golf on a snooker table. I'm a terrible go off in that spot. Then one pocket and nine ball. I have also blown a little cash at three cushion, so you can see I am a well rounded billiard room pigeon. John

Then surely I must try you some golf on a snooker table. It sounds like I would almost have a lock on that game. Perhaps I should bet real high and make it a race so that I can be assured of a good score, just in case we should ever play one pocket or that scourge of a game, nine ball. :D

It is always nice to know that there are other pidgeons besides myself, out there as this thread attests to.

I agree that races really suck. Make em bet and make em pay. The pressure will burst a water pipe.

Now we have it. I can blow all the money I have budgeted for pool to one guy knowing it will be back in action soon. Maybe to my friend Jay. I know he will want you pumped up whenever you guys play, so he may want a piece of mine to make sure you win enough $$. I will also set aside a little cash for one pocket as I like to go off on that a little too. John

I am wringing my hands with euphoric anticipation. This is so sweet, I can almost feel the money in my hands. Jeeze, now I know what it feels like to be a pool player.

JoeyA

P.S. NOTE TO JOEY: (Be more careful about what you say to John about THE GINGERBREAD MAN)

Who won that tournament at the arena and what did it pay?

Anyone give the run down on 1st to 7th?

Maybe Easy-E can make a comment here? hehehe

Scotty's liable to take off those cowboy boots and shoot bare footed . You know you're in deep doo-doo when Scotty exposes those well traveled feet . Run-out, Run-out, Run-out, grab a beer, then repeat 2X more.

Un-screw now and save yourself the embarrassment if he takes off the boots withcha

Jon Pinegar wins it. I was busy. :)

Maybe one of the owners of the pool hall will post it up.
