Here's a tip to sanding really bad seams...flat.

That is simply not true........RKC just points out better ways to do something....I don't call that mocking....I would think any mechanic (new or old) would always be looking for and appreciate a better process.

It is not his fault that very few other mechanics can match up to his workmanship.......or match the customer demand for his work to be performed.

Why is it people will wait a month(s) to have him do the work instead of getting other mechanics that would be available much sooner?

Why is it that (multiple) mecanics have asked to be trained by him?

Results speak volumes....Many have seen RKC's results.....and "customer" feedback.

I can't recall any "customers" starting a thread and posting pictures because you just blew them away with your workmanship and willingness to go the extra mile.....or 1000 miles in some cases.

I have seen that from RKC...and that is what I call "results"............

I would rather wait a month...;)

For whatever it's worth---------
I am not a mechanic, but I spent 6 months, off and on, building my own 9' table. When it came time to level the slate and cover the cushions, I hired the person who I think is the best in the business in the Chicago area. The work he did was fantastic and the table plays beautifully. The techniques he used were learned at the Alsip seminar put on by RKC.
Some of the top players in the Chicago area have played on my table and enjoy the speed and accuracy very much. The results speak volumes about the knowledge that was imparted at that seminar. In my opinion, if you want a first rate job, hire a mechanic that is using the methods recommended by RKC.

Agreed. But in my opinion, it's not only that RKC does the work that makes it good work. It's the attention to detail, pride and techniques he uses. It's sad the percentage of guys out there that DON'T take enough pride in what they do to find a way to do it better. THAT is what sets Glen apart from most people and I'm glad to see a growing number of people on here gain knowledge and start realizing that there is a better way, so we can aim for perfection on every table we do.

A lot of people still do wait months for Glen to work on their table. Many people will hire someone else to do the work because they can get to it sooner...knowing that that person has trained under Glen, or uses the same techniques as Glen, or can achieve the same quality results as Glen. Jay, Pat, Bob, Donnie, Mark, etc. etc... all of these guys have gained a reputation for doing quality work, and we have all exchanged ideas with Glen and with each other. How nice will it be when the day comes when this knowledge has spread enough that there are mechanics in every major area that work to this high level of expectations. The even better part to me is that room owners and home owners are realizing that they can expect more from their mechanic, and that just because the thing looks like a pool table when it's done being set up, that doesn't mean it's done right.

You are absolutely correct. The mechanic that worked on my table was a real perfectionist. He took real pride in his ability and he wasn't bashful about stating it either.

hey Glen...

John...the difference between myself and you...is that I'm not interested in designing tools that only YOU would use, or DVDs that only YOU would watch. I'm more interested in this industry as a whole...not just your little area that you work in.

I'm interested in teaching other mechanics how to better their work and understanding of this kind of work...which means...I'm not interested in what kind of tool box they carry their tools in with. See, that's another difference between myself and you, I'm more interested in the mechanic knowing how to do this kind of work right, as opposed to what kind of tool box he carries his tools in...while you on the other hand, are more obsessed with coming up with some bullshit that no one would ever use...but yet it must be good...because YOU thought it up...and YOU liked it...so everyone else must too.

You have what...10 years experience as a table mechanic? I've been working in this trade for the last 27 years buddy, you're not all you think you are to this industry, because if you were...then you would have been the consultant to Diamond when it came time to design their new coin-operated pool tables. You would have been the one that designed their ball polisher. You would have been the one that redesigned the play of their rails.

No John, you're more like a fly... that's always circling a pile of shit trying to figure out where to land...thinking you play a very important role in life:grin:

Glen

PS. Here's one for you John;) A little over a year ago, I held a mechanic's seminar in Alsep, IL. Lots of people showed up...but not you. But, I do recall you making the statement that YOU were going to start holding mechanic's seminars as well....to show ME how it's done....right, the OTLB way...do you remember making that statement...right here on AZ?

When was your first seminar held...to help better this industry?

i get the drift of your reply - but i don't have to hear OTBL's bull...

and the reason is so simple - he is the only person on all of AZB that "i have blocked" - i just can't tolerate him and his posts

he nauseates me so i had no choice but to 'BLOCK' him

and as far as you are concerned, just keep doing 'exactly' what you are doing...

so many of us really appreciate what you do!!!!

best always,
smokey

Geez Guys

I don't come on here all that often these days. It is nice to know I can still get a little OTLB vs Cobra entertainment though!

John,
I am sure you are a great guy and a progressive, inventive table mechanic who cares about what he does. Are you really benefiting from this banter with RKC who garners so much respect here?

I don't know them personally, but I do know where your talking about...they your friends???
