Here's the draw info.

Group 26 with Stalev,Robles and Lining could be tough if one or both of the other guys are good. I don't recognize their names.

Wow, this is going to be exciting right from day 1 as there are several groups with four or five well known names plus I have to assume that some of the names I don't recognize are going to be good. I was thinking that the first round would just get rid of a lot of players that are in over their heads but some really good players are going to be out after the first round.

Just like I said....no offense Linda....Mike Sigel got the easiest draw in the tournament.

Most groupings have 2 champions...his has none.

Group 23 with Breedlove, Souquet & Tademy looks tough. Colin is going to have to show some mad skillz there.

For once I agree with you. I have no idea how the draw was done and I have to assume that if Deno did it then it was totally legit. Just an ironic twist that Sigel got a relatively easy group.

If he doesn't make it out of that group then I predict a future with the IPT as consultant/commentator but not player. He might go back into retirement. :-)

Has anyone considered the possibility that KT is mocking Sigel a little bit. Okay Mike, you're the greatest, no money, right, okay here's your dream let's see how good you are.

I also thought it was funny that the tour is "sponsored" by Natural Cures and the first thing Sigel does after his run is have coffee and a cigarette.

Agree..... this by far is the toughest group.... !

Almost all the groups are double tough. There isn't one that can really be considered toughest.

(Figured I'd start a new thread so all the post-draw chatter could be in one place.)

First glance, it looks like the favorites are all over the place, group-wise. Group 9 looks tough with Owen and Reyes.

Poor Linda is up against Sigel right off the bat. Fun! :P

I have to say that the tournament taken as a whole is definitely the strongest field I've seen. There are a few players that might or might not belong, but with the format, you're going to have to beat some top players just to get to the second round no matter which group you're in.

I really wish my schedule allowed me to be there this week. I would love to be amidst all that excitement. Linda, Colin, Bernie, Keither, Hillbilly, Lance Salazar, all the pros here....best of luck and whatever you do, enjoy the moment!

OH OH,

I think the WPBA is starting to sweat.

Without a doubt there will be several women getting through this round.

Allison, Karen, Ewa, Helena, Loree and even Sarah Ellerby look good on paper to be in the top three of their groups. Kelly Fisher has a tough group.

As to Mike Sigel having an easy group, probably. But if you are honest so do Matlock, Earl, Varner, Efren, Bustamante, Ralf, Jeremy, Keith, Kennedy Shawn, Raj, Max, Archer and Manalo.

With all this money involved it sure wouldn't be wise to eliminate the greats, and/or the popular players in the first round..

Putting Immonen, Ortmann and Bryant in one group will really put pressure on them to get through the round. I have no idea how Raney and Valle play but if one of them has a good day they could knock out a favorite.

Can you believe it? It all starts in only 9 days.

Jake

Valle on par if not better than players in this group... he has impressive credential.. my pick in this group would be MIKA, VALLE and ORTMANN... its really tough to drop BRYANT... these guys will battle it out...

Here's one that sticks out.

Group 20 with Immonen, Ortmann, Bryant and Valle.

I agree this is the toughest group so far... please do not count out valle.. I am pretty sure he'll be on the top three of this group :)

Looks like I won't get much time to play myself into stroke:D

There are a few very tough groups out there, including group 34
Darren APPLETON
Allen HOPKINS
Patrick HOLTZ
Mike DAVIS
Takeshi OKUMURA

and group 22
Leonardo GUNNAR
Tom STORM
Daryl PEACH
John SCHMIDT
Konihiko TAKAHASHI

We're gonna see quite a few big names going out in the first round. Certainly a lot of sweating will be done:D

Cheers BB,
I'll give them all I've got. But I can tell you, the video camera is a lot more forgiving than my opponents will be! :D

I guess Mike just got " Lucky "

Yeah, I'm with you on this...The mouth's draw looks mighty suspicious to me too.

Draws

As others have already said....Groups 20 and 23 look very tough....although there are several other groups with three champions in them that look almost as tough.

No disrespect intended, because I may be wrong because I'm not familiar with some of these players, but to me, groups 11, 14, and 24 look to be the least scary groups.

I definitely agree that Group 20 looks to be tough. I don't know anything about Jim Raney except what is in his bio on the IPT site, but if he makes it through to Round 2, it will be the early story of the tournament.

Other matches I'm interested in seeing:
Group 16 - Jimmy White v Quinten Hann - Hann was suspended from snooker for 8 years last year for match-fixing. It will be interesting to see how comfortable they both look on the smaller table.

Group 5 - Junior champ Austin Murphy getting his first taste of the big time against Ewa Laurance and Danny Basavich.

Group 6 - Miyuki Sakai v Earl Strickland

All of Group 7 - Raj Hundal, Monica Webb, Scott Frost, Ismael Paez, and Dallas West. Dallas West went 0-5 at KOTH. If the same thing happens here and Dallas goes 0-4, that makes every match (and rack) among the other 4 players critical.

The amount of talent in this tournament is scary. Imagine if the Taiwanese players start appearing for the 2007 and 2008 seasons.

OMG the excitement is killing me! Those are real good groupings that they've done that it gave me the jitters for the Filipinos when I saw it. I see in each group somebody who may have an advantage in 8-ball strategy, somebody who can compensate for that with his/her pocketing ability, somebody who can immediately adjust to the equipment condition off the gate better than the rest, somebody who has the intimidation factor working for him/her....What a draw!

Good Luck to all. It's anybody's ballgame!

Edwin<<what a rush!!!

None taken. Phil Harrison in our group can also play a little. But I understand what you are saying, even if The Queen is playing the King (or Ex King of the Hill).

My husband, Mike is in a tough bracket, but he is playing good enough to beat anyone in it.
