A very nice little find there KV :)

I realise this is probably gonna be a stupid question, but is one of the shafts made with birdseye maple, if not both? :)

Very nice indeed sir :)

Hello Willie...the smaller shaft is made from curly maple & is the original shaft. The fatter shaft with the shorter ferrule was made in Herman's shop by his friend Dick Helmstetter. The original owner was friends of both men.

Kevin, here's another stupid question for you. Is the cue for sale?? If so whats the asking price?? PM me the price if it is for sale.

DANGIT!!!!!! .... I was going to ask if it was CM in the smaller shaft, but I decided to ask if it were BEM instead, because I thought that it was already a stupid question as it is :) lol

Thank you for confirming what my original thoughts were :) lol

Just out of curioustiy, what kind of hit does a CM shaft give? :) (Soft, Solid, etc?)

Very good find indeed. Would be neat to see it restored, if that's the plan that is. :D

I would HIGHLY recommend that it left as original!

Varney, that looks ALOT like mine!

Sorry Kev, I wouldn't have the slightest clue about the value of a Herman Rambow, as I've not even got to being a rookie stage of cue collecting, let alone knowing anything about value :) lol

I will take a top of the head guess and estimate about $6K +/- $2K :), again it's a complete and utter guess, as I haven't seen too many Herman Rambow's in circulation, on any of the collector cue sites :)

I hope though that someone with a bit more authority on cue collecting, can give a more knowledgable price, than I can :)

Your Guess is really kinda high, the real value is what someone will pay for it. Unfortunately, while in all respects the cue appears to be a Rambo, it is unsigned. The cue itself, is a 1950's to early 1960's Titlist, that has been converted, or so it appears, based on the colors of the veneers. Which while it is not uncommon that it is not signed, it however reduces the cues value to many collector's. If I had to guess I would say the cues value is some where around $1500 to $2000 max. Just my opinion which is based upon the Rambo cues I have bought and sold over the years.

Thank you Craig for posting that, as I had wondered also, if there was a signature on the cue or not, which of course, after I posted my reply, I also thought that my guess seemed a bit high, but again, just a complete guess :)

Thank you though for explaining it a little better to me, and it makes good sence :)

Like I mentioned before, I haven't even became a rookie collector yet, as I only got 2 cues, but it would be nice to start getting some cash and getting hold of a few beauties :)

Thank you once again sir :)

Willie

I agree with Craig's value, but it still doesn't tell me if the cue is for sale or not. I would like to know a price for this cue even with the posibility of it NOT being a Rambow. If it were to be confirmed to be an original H.Rambow then i know for a fact I'd love to have it locked up in my safe.

Mine is similair

I have mine insured for $4k, which I think is high, but then again, try to find one with a documented history, in a historic sale, featured in a magazine.

3 shafts all original.
butt all original
ivory butt cap

I dont think its is way out of line but certainly on the high end.

Thats my thoughts.
