Hey Mike Howeton...

What is amazing is that I have heard that somone (usually different people) believes that I am posting as every trouble maker on the site. None of the people who feel this way have ever met me or ever even spoke to me on the phone.

No one who has ever met me has thought I was posting under any of these names, but the people who think that I am are positive that they have discovered my deep dark secrets and seem very proud that they have figured it all out.

What a joke.

Mike

I don't know what you're trying to say here and why you chose to quote MY POST with the names of people that I said YOU AREN'T....

But how many times do l have to ask you to call me and TALK ON THE PHONE, or give me your number in order to call and talk to YOU. Nobody needs to beat around the bush....I'm not beating around the bush. YOU HAVE MY PHONE #. What the hell are you afraid of???

Why are you seemingly getting so paranoid about this and making posts about it???

CALL!!! If you want people to talk to you on the phone.

Well, I was just speaking to his points about the popularity of the board, i.e. actual posts made and not to the speculation that you are posting under many identities. It seems to me that if part of the appeal for advertisers is ratings then you are on top right now. If a little WWF is present then so be it if that gets the job done. I don't know where the balance is but I can tell you that without some color this board would be boring.

I loved RSB before Larry and was a frequent participant. I did hate the unmoderated part which led to things getting out of hand sometimes. But in the pre-Larry days we could pretty much take care of anyone who was just a troll with filtering.

So, I appreciate the fact that this board is moderated. I don't appreciate the sudden removal of entire threads. I wish there was some way to simply remove the offending posts and warn the ones who did it. I participate in several industry boards and they never delete threads, just posts when things start to get ugly.

Sorry for the miscommunication.

You quoted me and sided with me. Enuff said...you're now a Category 3.

All this back and forth is amazing to me. I can't believe Mike is actually debating with forum members who refuse to follow his rules on his forum. Reminds me of when I did some substitute teaching years ago.

I think Mike is really doing a great job here.

I suspect some people might be just curious about why a thread was deleted, or they might find it very entertaining to read such thread. If the thread is non-pool related and the flame is contained, I do not have a problem with that--all I do is not to read the thread.

On the other hand, some threads would contain valuable information and then all the sudden, it went down the drain because of certain posts, that is something I do not want to see happening--and I believe that is when moderation comes in--it protects the interests of those who come here for meaningful discussion and contribution. In the latter case, I would suggest that Mike does not delete the whole thread for the sake of those who are here for the information and knowledge.

I understand Mike is very busy and it is very hard to expect him to pick out the "bad" posts and delete them one by one. I think he has done an excellent job so far and I hope he will keep up the great job.

Thank you.

Richard

Hello richard,
Just wanted to pass along some info. When i was in seattle area a couple of weeks ago I stopped by beads and billiards (Federal way) and met I believe the owner (Jessie-sp) She let me try several break sticks from the pred bk to the mezz and of course the X-breaker. When all was said and done after about 100 breaks total as well as playing some 9 ball on the in-store table for most of the afternoon I walked out with the midnight black model. Not only was it the most consistent but just for ***** and grins i attempted a draw shot. Object ball on the rail at the 1st diamond from the foot rail. CB in the kitchen at the 1st diamond about an inch off the side rail. I couldn't believe it when i got whitey
all the way back to the end rail and a few more feet. Not saying i am a great player at all or that this is that hard to do just was AMAZED that i could get that much **** on the onion with a break cue. My compliments on a great product and I have a few people I know that will be buying 1 as well. Take care.

Hi JR,

You have been too kind. Thank you so very much.

If you need anything else, please do not hesitate to letting me know. It is my pleasure to be able to build something that you like.

I will meet Jessi in Lincoln City during the WPBA National and APA National early next month, will I see you there?

With warm regards,
Richard<--didn't mean to hijack this thread DM, sorry:_)

I think locking a wayward, out-of-control thread is a great option - posters interested in the good information contained in the thread can still find it, but the trouble-makers have to go elsewhere to continue their feuding. It works like a charm on the medical transcription forums!!! ;)

Yeah, you definitely nailed it on the head. I have nothing else to do lately so I have just been spending time stirring up crap.

I havn't had to work on a newspaper because they usually don't come out at the beginning of a month. I havn't been busy posting brackets or photos from events the past week or so and I havn't been busy posting new stories to the site this month.

Yes, I am really APA7 as well as Drivermaker, Teacherman and Splinterhands. Oh heck, might as well let you know all of my aliases. I am also Fast Larry, Earl Strickland and Shawn Putnam. When Marissa made the post thanking Shawn the other day, it was really just a coded message to me thanking me for the wild week in the Bahamas that we spent together last week.

You aren't the only one who got it right. Onepocketchump was also 100% correct. How do you think I paid for that trip the Bahamas? With all the crazy money I make off advertising on the forums. And I wouldn't make that money if I wasn't stirring up all of this crap.

How could I possibly get one by such deductive geniuses as you and onepocket?

Mike

Then please tell us who logged on as Fast Larry last month. Yes, it had his picture and a total 867 posts. Fast made some really stupid comments. Now the user is gone. It HAD TO ME YOU MIKE, or one of your lackeys. Who do you think you are kidding? You do this every time, telling us that you are everybody, trying to blow smoke up everyone's *ss. Just tell me anyhow, why should you give two hoots about someone not liking your forum?

Heh, don't get me wrong, this is a great forum. It is like reading the funny papers. Hell, Drivermaker reminds me of watching the dog races where the little pooches have the uncontrollable itch to chase the little wabbit until it disappears into the box at the end. Or the dude in Weird Science who gets turned in to a huge frog who can't resist eating the flies every time they fly by.

I don't know what Drivermakers obscession with Sweet Marissa is, but one thing for sure, it is definitely obsessive compulsive. Hell DM, don't you have anything better to do that pop blood vessels everytime Mawissa appears on the scene? Just put her on your ignore list and your blood pressure will go down 100 points.

But then we would miss you exploding into a million fragments every day. Oh, everyone have a nice day and keep up the good entertainment.

Ray.. the dumb part is that Larry figured this out first and nobody would listen to him. Hell I didn't believe him for a long time until it was too obvious. It's actually pretty funny (in a silly stupid way) I spoke with Larry about that on the phone and he just laughed about it and says he doesn't care anymore.

The bottom line is that this forum is growing in popularity and members every day - despite all of the bickering. I would visit here just to read Billy Jay. Mike - you should give him his own column - that stuff he writes is priceless. Perhaps a "Ask Billy Jay about Cuetec" section. It could be like comic relief. Why does everybody take all of this so seriously? Have some fun, relax, or this place will end up like "Pat Johnson's" RSB.

I've said this before on other threads and I'll say it again...you are totally clueless. Absolutely totally clueless!!

Or maybe my sense of humor goes way above you DM :D

Cheers DM. Keep up the good comedy. Your are the best, besides Fast Larry.

We are finally in agreement. The Fast is great and DL ranks right up there also. We could rule the world....
George Bush ought to hire you two as consultants. :D :p
Wait, he already has funnier clowns than you two.

I would suggest that the problematic thread be frozen, and moved to a seperate section. I have a feeling that may even become one of the most popular section.

In my opinion, some members here are interested in gossip and just want to vent their feelings--they are not interested in reading posts which are serious, having such a section may serve to meet their needs and draw more members and visits to this forum.

I see the problem with moderation is that some may say it takes away their freedom of expression, but without moderation, the freedom of quiet enjoyment of those who want to have a serious discussion is compromised. Perhaps we can repect both sides and offer each of them what they want?

Another suggestion I have is to have a small section which is totally un-moderated for those who like to flame away, but they may only do so in that section. I am not sure if this would work. Does anyone have any idea?

There is such a section. It's the Non-Pool Related section. Apparently people don't want to vent in a forum that doesn't have as large of an audience. :)

It's NPR section isn't the same, Jimmy. That's not where it belongs because most everything on the main forum starts out as pool related.

Hey, forget about the main forum. You have just as many flame wars starting in The Cue Gallery or Wanted for Sale area also. They ALL start out as pool threads...sometimes continuing as pool flame threads or going off into "you're an asshole...dickweed...no-nothing...homo" thread. There are also multiple perpetrators, long-time enemies, boneheads, and victims involved there as anywhere.

I actually think Richard might have a decent idea about the whole thing. Just move it over. But, I can already tell you what will happen....so will everybody else move over, lurkers and posters alike. And as much as most on here say..."let's keep it pool related"...the new section with the flame war will still get the most hits.
Anybody wanna bet??? I'll cover ANYTHING and EVERYTHING you want to post!!!

And exactly how did this particular thread begin with something pool related?

This one did not...it was an issue regarding DELETED THREADS that once started out as pool related. You have a way of categorizing it?
