"Hi Sarah!!! Wassup?!!!"

Sarah, you know.. Mark sat next to me for a little while when you were playing um...Friday night? I don't know, whatever night it was you made me get up to go watch you, even though I NEEDED TO EAT AND SLEEP. Ahem.

He saw the jacket I was sporting and designed, and made up some sort of handshake for me to do... he's crazy :D He may have even used my words, "rock on" for all I know...haha.

Btw, for anyone thinking if Sarah's met you that she doesn't remember you...let me tell you know, she has a very good memory, whether she says so or not. Not only will she remember you, but she'll remember what you say, and use it against you later in life...Or...wait...maybe that's just with ME. But she usually remembers faces anyway. :D

Sooooo good at complimenting me too, aren't you Sarah?! *cries and leaves the room*
:(

Dea

Are you saying Sarah is an elephant?!!! :p Hey, I thought Sarah gave her gurlz props!!! NE body who would give up SLEEP & FOOD for yah' needz a bunch of luv!!!! Waddup Sarah?!!!

Thank you for your explanation. I will try out your drill very soon, if not tonite. Every now and then I get the need to play some 3-C (facinating game) so, I'm curious to play your straight rail billiards on a pool table.

I hope you got a chance to try it out. It is an interesting game. I really enjoy it even though I don't play it enough. I haven't seen a 3C table since I moved to the St. Louis area (not that I have been out searching for one) so this it has been fun to play on a pool table. Plus, you can pocket balls and figure out what is going to happen as well.

Dea....I always compliment you...and you know it. And that jacket you had on was awesome. I mean the artwork on it was great. I think I recognized the person in the picture. :) And you are right Dea, generally I can remember faces quite well and usually what is said too. So watch out.

F8it....I don't think Jay meant anything bad by what he said. He is being honest when he says I would be playing rack girl for Tang and Dave. I don't mind admitting that. I know I didn't take any offense to what he said. I have heard way worse!

As for the 15 ball drill. I might try it out. I do drills, I just don't like them. Even if they are semi-interesting, interest doesn't last long. I try to split things up into short sessions of drills and then playing someone, then back to drills. If I lose interest I quit trying or get frustrated. When that happens I am just wasting time rather than furthering my game.

And as for Dea...it is not my fault she went without sleep or without food. I didn't force her to watch me lose hill-hill. But I do appreciate the fact that she did.

Must not be. The boys took me to a PH in STL because it had a 3C table. Don't worry...I played pinball, LOL.

sarahrousey said:
Really? Which pool room was it?

Ummm...I don't remember the name. It was actually in STL. When you walked in the counter was RIGHT there and you had to walk thru those metal bars they have at amusement park rides...you know that let one person in at a time..to get to the tables. In the front where the counter was you could by sodas from a cooler and there was like an accessory shopping area on your right. Someone on here should know...if not you know who to ask.

SHhhhh..lol.
I drove 5 1/2 hours :( to see you play -- so I was gonna be there no matter what. Yes, I know, I'm a great person like that :p *sigh* lol. Just not many people like me left in this world...(because we have our own planet now)...

Yeah, you do always compliment me.. "dork", "loser", "weirdo", and it just gets better from there. (: Haha...yeah, everyone that knew you liked that jacket and asked about it. The person on the jacket though, can't say much for her...she's kinda out there, if you know what I mean :D

F8it, don't go gettin' me in trouble! haha. I never said thatttt. Although, she does put a TON of force behind that break of hers. (Which is why I'm staying on her good side...little people run fast.)

Hey Sarah! I'm sure Jay H. didn't mean anything bad, but I hate it when people make "judgement" statements, especially 'bout someones ability whether they really think it or not... You said yourself you weren't @ your best, and it was the first time he ever saw you... how would he know how you "really" play?!!! I also think you're selling yourself short saying you'd be a rack girl for Tang or Dave. Ne way I'm not going to start a "Flame" thread or anything like that. I just thought it wasn't an appropriate thing for JH to say.. IMHO.

I wish you saw Mosconi on TV (abc Wide World of Sports) when he matched up against Minnesota Fats. They would also put Mosconi on a shot clock for different practice drills (i.e. the 1/2 circle of balls draw drill in front of the side pocket) and he would pump them in with time to spare. He was exactly like a machine... it was jaw dropping!!! I also saw his instructional video and he said the pros of his era "always" practiced long straight in shots: "because they were the toughest." - Willie Mosconi. They used to play on 5' X 10' tables in those days. NE way the bottom line is Mosconi stressed the importance of drills for consistency and cue ball control!!! I know what you said about not liking them (yah' darn natural) but to really refine your game practice drills will pay you huge dividends. I'm not trying to force you to do anything (I would NEVER, EVER do that), and I only want to return your kind advice with some tid bits I picked up from other great players.

Oh yeah... Dea mentioned your "power" break and I wanted to ask you about that!!! What is your technique when breaking and how do you get your body into it and getting the timing down? Can you "break" (pun intended!) it down for me? Coordinating all those movements has been really tough for me! One of the biggest breaks I saw was from Jennifer Chen. I saw her for the first time in the 90's practicing @ Hard Times Bellflower. She cracked the balls so hard it was scary... I mean "BOOM!!!!!!" Augh!!! The cue ball wasn't flying around the table either. She would darn near squat it in the middle of the table!

Well... I'd better stop or I'll go on again forever! Have a great weekend!!! Yah darn natural!!! :)

P.S.

I just love your Barnhart playing cue! It's SWEEEET!!! Is the forearm made of "fiddle back" maple?

Nice jacket Dea. How did you get that persons autograph?? WOW! Just kidding. Just so everyone knows, Dea makes some really awesome designs.

I agree, drills will build consistancy and cue ball control. I know that I lack in this department and it is mostly me holding myself back. I need to get myself motivated to do drills. That is what I will be doing this week since there is a tournament next week.

Oh yeah... Dea mentioned your "power" break and I wanted to ask you about that!!! What is your technique when breaking and how do you get your body into it and getting the timing down? Can you "break" (pun intended!) it down for me?

It is really hard to explain my break. If you see it, it looks odd. It is something that I watched George Breedlove do when I was about 10 or 11 years old. I picked up how he did it and copied it. It is easiest to explain like a golf swing, or baseball swing...everything works together and moves in a fluid motion. Alot of people try to put their body into the break way too much. Their body is moving before their arm is ready. The result is a bad break. Start out slow and work on control. It really doesn't matter how hard you hit the balls as long as you can make a ball and control the cueball.

So i was wondering,do u have a video clip where i can watch u playing pool.

Sorry, I myself do not have any clips. I think there is a news story in another post that shows me shooting a few shots. Otherwise, I hope to make it to ESPN soon so everyone can critique my game.

Landshark and Dea...you guys are both awesome for driving all that way to watch the tournament. No arguing about it.

Uh yeah!!! Or.. Nutz!!! 13 - 14 hrs. straight?!!! Don't know you gas is $$$$$!!!? You guys should be chauffering Sarah to all her tournaments, so she won't have jet lag as an excuse for doggin' it anymore!!! HA!!! :p

Actually that was Landshark that gets props for the 14 hours :) ...I only drove 5 1/2. :( It's the only tournament close enough that I'm willing to go to at this point in time. But I had a great time, so just warning everyone that goes every year..yes, I'm coming back! Haha.

Well.. drills are great but they do have an appropriate time and place to be practiced. Sparring with a real good player would be better before a tournament than solitary drilling (unless you are practicing your break or specific shots). Johnny Archer - when he was #1 - would Sparr to gear up his 9-ball game to a PEAK before major tournament. I'm sure you know what to do... just another tidbit!

Oh, your tournament...would that be the Cuetech Cues U.S. open in NM? I wish you great luck (not that you need it!!!) and all the very, very best @ this Tourney and rest of this season, etc.!!! I hope you WIN it all!!! YOOU CAAN DOO ITTT!!!! I assume espn will be televising it and hope to see yah' in action!!! ;)

George "The Flamethrower" Breedlove?!!! Man.. if I tried to break like that I'd dislocate the ball joint of my leg from my hip socket!!! :D I haven't had much chance to study his technique... So... when you are in your full backswing going into your forward motion, do you push off with your dominant side foot just as the tip makes contact and accelerates "through" the cueball? If yah' don't want to give away any trade secrets it's o.k.. I just want a little more OOMPH! in my breaks.

Start out slow and work on control. It really doesn't matter how hard you hit the balls as long as you can make a ball and control the cueball. Sarah

Yes... I always try to "squat" whitey in the middle of the table when I break, but as I've alluded too, I'd like just a little more power so I can overcome those mud racks!!! Nuthin' worse stringing a couple racks and then on the third you hear a terrible THUD!!! Believe me, I want to check the racks before I break - every time - but people get offended and upset if you gawk @ it too much! Also... in the room I play almost all the tables rack real bad!!!! Even the Tournament Director knows this but he can't do much and doesn't own the place. Not knocking the room... it's just that the "custom" tables are literally starting to fall apart and - I think - need to be replace with some nice Brunswick IV's!!!! :p

Keepin' this one short and sweet - like you?!!! ;) - Take care yah self and get sharp "before" the tournament!!!

Sincerely and Respectfully!!!

F8it
