I think if John were selected as AZ's horse of the year, he would be willing to drop in a little more often than he has been in the past but I don't want to speak for him. Realistically speaking everyone needs to realize that winning a major pro event is an extremely difficult challenge. No matter who you are, even Efren doesn't win all of the tournaments he enters. When you get to the rest of the mortals, they win even less often. Personally I don't think it is a gamble and it is more entertainment value than anything else. Of course, I am still hoping that some lucky AZers will make a little money along the way.
I just hope that we aren't POing Purdman with attempt to jump on the band wagon. Purdman is probably sitting back saying well thank God, somebody pulled me out of the fire for this one. Step up to the plate Purdman and tell us how you feel.

Sweet I love what I started hehe, and honestly I was thinking something along these lines when I first mentions JS as AZ house pro. I guess I thought it was a little "out there", but who am I kidding we're pool players, we're all "out there" (I am currently sitting at my computer reeking of smoke, and with blue chalk all over my left hand
) One last thing, JOHN NEEDS A T-SHIRT!

5 pages of posts lickety split.......Didn't know what I was starting when I offered the C note. Makes this feel like a real community. I am looking forward to meeting all of you at VF.
It really doesn't matter to me if John goes 2 and out. The point of my offer wasn't for the winnings...which I'm certain there will be plenty for everyone. My view is that John can't win if he can't compete, and it will be more fun with a horse in the race.
If I get my C note back, I'll be thrilled that John got into the money.
John, when it's over and you've won, all I want is my $100.00. While it's true that money won is sweeter than money earned, to me it's sweeter still to put you in a position to earn your money, and perhaps a sponsorship.
When John wins, all I want is my $100.00. 25% of my winnings can go to a sponsorship fund for the pros who post here needing help. The other 75% goes to John. He'll have earned it, and he's indirectly responsible for the flurry of activity we see in this thread. If we can't get a sponsorship fund worked out, then John is to get 100% of my winnings over $100.00.
Good Luck John, maybe we'll have an opportunity to meet at VF

On a more serious note, somebody here mentioned that he hoped JS didn't disappoint the investors. I'm not sure what was meant by that. If he goes 2 and out I don't think anybody will mind. It sounded like kind of an unnecessary insult to me, but then I'm new here and don't know the personalities yet.

I thnk we are just ignoring those, to avoid letting this thread go there...most us feel the same way about as you did...we just communicated those thoughts through PM's and rep comments. BTW, welcome to the community.

I too care not how he finishes, I just want him to play and get a sponsor. I really hope he gets a good sponsorship. I've never met John, but everyone who talks about how seems to mention the word "class." That doesn't happen by accident in this sport. Plus, I mean come on, this is the reigning US Open Champion! He is one of the premiere 14.1 faces in today's game with a 400 under his belt and great 245 Ball Run-DVD. John has an all-around game (Derby City Classic results proved that), not to mention all the other stuff he has won and done for pool. ...ah heck let the tourney results speak for themselves.

He really does not owe anybody an explanation or an apology. What he did with previous winnings and how much or how little money he has is not relevant. There are many different reasons for a player to seek out a backer and I think we need to respect John and let him keep his reasons private.
