high run challenge 2

i am loving this idea......maybe we can do some sort of trophy thing in the end of a 6 or 12 month span....the one with the best record !

might be a nice keepsake to have on a mantle, too bad i dont have a mantle !!!!

I am a huge fan of this thread because I am a big fan of the 14.1 game. I have just started hitting balls again after a 15 year break:-). I have only played a handful of times in that period. I have been practicing for 4 days and only been practicing straight pool. My high run is 41 and I will post it later tonight. I am hoping to get some critics to comment. Good Luck All, Mark

Hey Steve, I would appreciate your feedback on my run. This is my 4th day trying and I have had runs in the 20s, 30s and this 41 ball run today. My opinion is my pattern play needs work. 2. I need to have stop shots on my key ball if at all possible. 3. I need to stay down. These 41/4 inch pockets aren't the best conditions for straight pool but it's a convienient pool hall close to me:-). Thanks, Mark

Just watched your video Mark. Thanks for sharing it with us. I am the worst player around here, but it looked to me that you tried to deal with your problem balls in that third rack a few times and just didn't get them broken up, and then you were stuck with them at the end.

As Steve said, start a new thread with that video, and ask for feedback there. Either way, you are getting to the third rack and I can't get past my second...

(sorry to the OP for the thread jack)

nothing doing for me today, a couple low 30's, i didn't save any of them.
I did have a good week though, a 72 over at 3 and stop's house and a 64 the next day down in the basement.
good luck next week. play well.

So this must be the day.

Any early returns in by those who were going to shoot early?

I'm sure Bill will hit us with something nice but I think he has to be at the Race Track all day today.

Jesse?

14.1 Man?

Steve "what about me?" Kur?

I'll try to grind out my usual 20 if my back holds up.

I am going out to practice this afternoon, unfortunatly with camera not in hand :(

until my room re-opens in a few weeks, i am not going to be using the camera. i get alot of dirty and confused looks when i use it at the room i have been playing at now, and it makes me feel real uncomfortable.
and right now for the next few weeks i really need to be practicing hardcore for the qualifiers.

Good Luck To All This Months Competitors !!!

sorry to back out of this months tourney !

-Steve "What About Me" Kurtz.....LOL

Who Knows....i will see what the atmosphere is like, maybe i will sneak something in !!!!!

61 so far

Just ran 61 and missed an easy shot, which I hung up in the corner pocket.
I went and knocked it in and continued my run from that point. Running another 35 before I made a break shot and then the cue ball went off the rack and scratched in the corner pocket to end that run.
I will try again tonight. Good luck to all.

GL for the next *sessions* my friend :)
...grrrr...makin me crazy to see no *green* for months -_-

good shooting2 you all,

Ingo

good luck everybody. I am about 1450 miles away from my pool table and it doesn't look like I will be back there anytime soon. Moving back to arizona.

Happy birthday to Dennis and Me.
I was hoping I would get something good today seeing how it is my birthday and all. Bummer. Maybe Dennis can get his mojo working.

Happy Birthday to you, too. Here is a 40:

I missed on the 41st shot, left it hanging with a perfect key and another break. I put it in by hand(shades of "you know who"), made the key, made the break and made the next 14. If I had not hung it, maybe would have had my second ever 50.

Happy Birthday to the both of you: Dennis & Steven.
I hope that you two have a wonderful day.
My B-day is Sept. 6th. not to far behind you two.

Nice run Dennis, too bad about that last one.

I tried 6 games last night, it went like this:

15
14
8
24
24

9

The important part is that I had GOOD break ball and cue ball leaves 4 out of 6 games last night. I missed one of the BB, and made another but had no shot. However, I made it into 2 new racks, HAPPY CAMPER here... but one heck of a long way to go.

Last competition it took me 20 plus games to get a 23, this time it look less than an hour to get TWO 24s...

Still running dead last around here, but I am improving. And I HATE this table for straight pool.

Hope to have another try at it tonight. I am so far from my ability 30 years ago that is is frustrating.

Anyhow, I'll post up if I do any better tonight. thanks for having this event again. One of these days if I can break into a decent number, I'll have to go out and get a video camera. First, so I can post up the run, but more importantly, so I can go back and watch what the heck I should have done differently.

I watched your video over on Face Book and left you a comment.
Nice run. That corner shot was a heart breaker. Easy 56 looking right at you after that shot. That is what happened to me yesterday. Missed a easy 62nd ball and then ran another 35. All it takes is one second of let up to miss and it's over... but we keep on trying and that is the way it is and should be.
Keep up the good work. Have a great day.

PS; Wink, keep up the good work, hang in there.
