HIGHEST RUN you've witnessed by a pro

still around, so far.

he had a break as good as anybody out there. back when harder the better was way to go. he would stick the ball in the center of the table (like glue).

on topic, i saw jessie bowman give a guy the 7 at mt. pleasant a race to 11 for 500. jessie won the flip and ran out the set. guys friend who didn't see it heard he lost with the 7 said i'll play the guy with the seven, i'll play god with the 7. his buddy said keep your money this guy beats god.
He loved that center table break. I would try to talk him into the cut break.
.
Doesn't matter how good they are if they are in the chair the whole match!

i've seen people lose matches without putting their stick together. happened to doug emery.

Wasn’t that match rack-your-own with a gentlemen’s understanding that both players would be racksmithing for themselves a bit?
Hmm, could be, but I'm not sure about a racksmithing agreement. It was rack your own with a template, and the corner pockets were 4½". Break and runs were 51% for the two players combined!

if break and runs are 50% it is a stupid game set up.
then it is basically just a breaking contest.

9 ball with rack your own and special racks have ruined pool.

An amateur dropped a 5 pack on me years ago.

One of the best shooting I’ve seen and I had no choice but to sit there.

I’ve played pros in the past but the 5 pack has to be it.

I have to agree. It’s a joke how many balls are pocketed. Today I played a regular who hasn’t came by in weeks. He was very motivated to play. A good breaker too.

Felt like we were playing 6 ball or 7 ball. 😂

He misses and I’m out and same with him.

There’s not much strategy at this point all and just muscle memory. I was running out in less than a minute. I’m starting to get in a bad habit of playing speed pool. Again, just muscle memory.

2005 European Championships was the last year of winner breaks. One of the reasons to switch to alternate break was a particular match in 8-ball L32 between Nick v/d Berg and Ivica Putnik. Nick won the lag and ran 8 racks on Ivica who got to shoot the lag and then occupy the seat before the hand shake. I was there and witnessed part of the match.

Filler ran 8 and out in 3 consecutive racks last year at DCC in the 1 hole event to beat Lunda in 9 minutes. One of the best exhibitions I have ever witnessed. Saw Shawn Putman ran 9 racks from the flip to beat Norm Wines at Cornfeed Red's in Cbus.

Bergman has a video on youtube of him running 18 racks on a barbox.

and i have seen both mario and his opponent (niels maybe, don't remember) do it after the rule change = the lag still decided. but at least his opponent got to leave the chair.

i have also seen it on national level, TF zhang playing a perfect alternate race to 8 race in 8b.

Was that a bar box or a nine footer?

i saw richie richison do the same thing to brad houston at a houghton lake tourney.

i also remember norm (porky) wines playing a 15 ahead set at the sands in gr. guy he was playing ran 11 broke dry, porky jumps up and says my turn and put 13 back on him. (also on the box)

Rock'em sock'em.

What state of development was the session in?

These ahead sets are a mystery to me. I've watched 'em in portions, some interesting stuff always happens but pulling away and taking it down is the stuff of Titans.

I beat Brad Houston in a B Bracket event a few years ago (before he passed). His back arm shook wildly from his condition and age. I could see his intelligence in his approach to the table but he was past being able to execute. Some knowledgeable local folks railbirded. After I won I mentioned to one of them that I thought he was a C player. Me being ignorant of his legacy, they responded that what I said was the most ironic thing they’ve ever heard knowing how good of a player he once was. In hindsight it was interesting to see what that moment was in terms of Father Time.

120 something. Nick Varner about a half hour after him stepping off a plane. Almost frail soft-spoken man. Stone cold killer with a cue.
