HIGHEST RUN you've witnessed by a pro

Okay, a couple of us have informed you that Ko's largest B&R package in his semifinal match against Yapp was 3, not 11. And in the finals against Gorst, he had 5 B&Rs, but the first one of those didn't happen until Game 12. The 5 B&Rs consisted of two 2-packs and a single.

What in the world made you think he had 15 B&Rs in a row over those two matches? Really strange.

people said the same about filler in the DCC banks, that he ran 5 racks or something over the semi and the final. but even if they were consecutive in one sense, it's not very serious to count packs over two matches. it just doesn't work that way

Stu,
It would be easier to say Matlock was the best ever on a bar table.

No need to mention any game because he was the best on a bar table at any of them.

I would gather that Dave was probably the best all around player in America if you take into account all games on all tables.
Thanks, Steve. Hope you're well.

I watched Jamie Farrell (not sure spelling) do 15 racks of 9-ball on one of his tight pocket gold crowns about 20 years ago at The Corner Pocket. Pretty sure that's the most I've seen in person.
Back in Vegas 2007, saw Dennis and SVB play a 0 inning, race to 15, 8 ball, alternate break, 7' diamond, for I think $10K. SVB won 15-14. First time I've ever say a perfect match, they both did it.
At the Riviera? Late evening/midnight ish?

If so, I was there and watched most of that match.

Also watched SVB and Charlie Bryant play a perfect (13 b'n'r) race to 7 in a tournament match (8 ball on 7' Diamond at the Riviera) 7-6 SVB

Yapp came to the table 8 times after the lag. He simply failed every shot, pushout, or defensive battle he was faced with. Here's one example of him at the table in game 8 with his cue in his hand. Obviously KPC didn't break and run that rack.

so did rodney morris when CSI had pros playing on tiny tables. can't remember if they called it US open 8-ball or not, but i remember being annoyed that the event didn't mention the table size.

since others have brought barboxes into the conversation, here's justin bergman running an 18-pack in a streamed 9b match:

It's wild anyone would play a pro 9-ball on a bar box, template rack, 1 on the spot, no break box, and no 3-point rule. That specific set of conditions begs for an 800+ player to run a 100-pack if they put a Jayson Shaw high run effort into it.

I haven't been to a lot of pro events, but back when I played in my first Texas Open, Eric Aicinena broke and ran the first 5 racks on me.

I just wish that he would travel and represent the US.

p.s. On a side note, I did make $20 dollars betting against him many years ago. It was in a swannee memorial, deep in the winner's bracket and someone on the rail liked Bergman against Louis Ulrich. This was not long after Louis had moved back to San Diego from the East Coast where he was dominating the pool scene and in top form. Needless to say (or rather already stated) I won the $20 bucks as Louis won something like 9-4, or 9-5

Some of the highest payouts in billiards (when counting the calcuttas) have been on bar boxes. White Diamonds typically has high runs and even higher payouts.

I've heard of the calcuttas alone reaching 190K+

If the highest run any of us can find on video by the best in the world is 11, none of you have run 13 racks. Or 10.
Theres a video from 2 or 3 racks of an Asian guy in flip flops running 11 racks of 9 ball woth ease using a magic rack....an unknown

Many years ago Willie Mosconi came and gave an exhibition at the local Bowling Ally. (Brunswick Tables) I was 15 He let me break Straight Pool to 125. I thought I got him. Nope he ran125 balls and went on with his exhibition. Later he gave me a few tips. It was like having god over my shoulder. lol.

The biggest I saw was Johnny Archer 8 racks in a tournament at the Wagon Wheel in Atlanta. The most ever put on me was 5.5 or 6 Racks by Jamie Martin in Missouri.

It is super cool that you have those articles as proof. Although your personal achievements I already believed. Just seem like a straight shooter (pun intended).
.
My dad never did anything like you did, few have, but he tried some pro tournaments and toured some in the 70s and 80s. He apparently beat Mataya, Cincinnati Red, and a handful of other decent players. Played Bobby Hunter all night and broke even. Had several pretty sizeable trophies growing up but we got our house foreclosured on when drug habits were too bad and they ended up gone. Also lost my grandpa's medals from ww2. I still have his dog tag though.
.
Anyway thanks for sharing. It is cool to hear a veteran champions stories.
your dad also beat buddy hall back then.

mike was a hell of a player, and fearless.

p.s seeing that pic attached to the name glue made me think i was losing it.

Someone else said 10 but it was 11? That's a serious run.
If the reference is to Orcollo's 120-115 9-Ball win over SVB in June, 2021, Orcollo's largest B&R package was 10, not 11. The commentators thought it was 11 for a while, but corrected it. It was on Day 1 (of 3), Games 26-35. Van Boening broke in Game 25, and Orcollo missed the 2-ball in Game 36. 26-35 = 10.

Wasn’t that match rack-your-own with a gentlemen’s understanding that both players would be racksmithing for themselves a bit?

still around, so far.

he had a break as good as anybody out there. back when harder the better was way to go. he would stick the ball in the center of the table (like glue).

on topic, i saw jessie bowman give a guy the 7 at mt. pleasant a race to 11 for 500. jessie won the flip and ran out the set. guys friend who didn't see it heard he lost with the 7 said i'll play the guy with the seven, i'll play god with the 7. his buddy said keep your money this guy beats god.
