Does anyone know of a quick change toolpost for the
highttower lathe that bolts right on ?
I know Chris also sells them but was looking for a standard
semi- commercial unit that might be avaible from Mcmaster
Carr or MSC

Thanks
Mark

You might want to look at this as an alternative

Check out ebay. Personally, I find them convenient but utterly a waste. They never lock down tight enough with the one screw and eventually begin to twist off square. I feel it would be MUCH more effective & accurate to have multiple carriage assemblies equipped with different tooling, even though it would be far more expensive. Just my experiences, nothing set in stone.

I rarely use them either as I have loaded up several regular tool posts with small tooling. But the new design I sell has two bolts holding it to the t-slot and a larger 1/4-20 bolt holding it to that riser.

New design already sounds great. Having a second locking screw I think would make all the difference. I, too, have several posts with muliple tool outfits. I have been accumulating carriages, and now just need risers. This way everything will stay the same as far as using the dial to adjust cut depth.

I stripped out the riser on mine from changing it with my router bracket so many times. I bought a couple somewhere online for relatively cheap. I can look it up if you are interested. Now I have three cross slides with things mounted on them, so I don't have to keep switching.

Cross slides would be an effective & accurate way of changing tooling as well. I usually watch ebay for misc. parts like risers because they are always very cheap & no matter how used, they are still good.

Any pics/prices on the new design? Nothing like a new toy !!:D

Do you have a picture?

Mark, I used to have one from A2Z cnc but it got sold on a lathe by accident and was never replaced. I would have happily loaned it to you to try out if I still had it. They do sell these direct or do a search on e-bay for taig as this is the same company. I have stripped out a copple of square nuts used for the cross slide. It uses a 10-32 long cap screw. A man with your tallents though should be able to fix this issue.

Jim.

From Chris' web site:
"QUICK CHANGE TOOLPOST with 2 square tool, 1 boring bar and 1 cut off tool holders. Extra tool holders $30 each. $135"

I don't think there are any pictured on his web site, but I seem to recall one appearing in one of his videos if you happen to have them.

I purchased Chris's quick change tool post set. I love it.
It is real solid. Thanks Chris.

I will look into that quick change tool post. I have to say, all the thumb screws are by far my least favorite about my cuesmith lathe.Too time consuming! I am also starting to see some play in my cross slide and carriage. How can I tighten this up some?
