Hightower video

My sound does work on my computer, (nothing to do with your video) so I couldn't hear the commentary. But from the video footage it looks like you did a good job.

Thanks, I probably should have edited that out. I have no fear while using a Hightower Lathe. That was my first ferrule and tip in yearsss but something about Chris's lathes gives me a warm fuzzy feeling like I'm home.

Warm and fuzzy - good!! Warm and wet - not so good!:(

I was surprised at how fast you ran your headstock - I do most of my work at much slower speeds - but that's just me.

He didn't keep it long enough to get his knuckles busted .
Everytime I see that chuck spinning, the more I think a 5" coffee-can plastic lid should come with that lathe.
Sanding over the ferrule looked kinda scary.
Sand paper over a flat plastic below the ferrule is much safer.
Shaping with a utility blade free-handed is definitely a no-no.
Concave cutter , sanding block and file do the job for me.

Good vid, Tom. The girl is prettier than you are .

Gary and Joey, you are both right. I only had it about half speed on the Knob, was not used to Chris's new design motor and just went for it as I am sick as a dog. The model in front was going to do the whole thing but I did want her to catch what I have, Joey, I keep her around cause she is prettier than me.

Lets do some math. I would have charged $65.00 for the IvorX Ferrule and UltraskinLayered Tip. Take $3.50 away for delivered Ferrule price and $3.00 for Tip delivered price. Take $2.00 away for glues, towels electric etc. That leaves a profit margin of $56.50 for 1/2 hours work. Lets figure in a highly populated Pool area such as Port Saint Lucie or South Florida I do 3 a day and One Thousand Dollar added tournament or bigger a month.

I'm not getting rich but able to pay bills and play pool. This makes the Hightower Mid Size a great $1,600.00 investment.

Thats not the route I am taking though, but its there, been there done it already. I bought the lathe for the video for addition to my slowly building Web Site.

More Videos to come, just starting to have fun.

Thanks Dan, appreciated. It however is part of a marketing plan I am setting up for my Web Site.

I want the people who in the future buy Tips from me to be able to see I know how to work a lathe and put a ferrule and tip on and how to play the game showing I know the feel of the tip to the cue ball.

I by no means will be even close to one of the fine Cue Repair People on here nor will I hit near as good as many of the players but I will show comparisons of knowledge to the CEO's that want to charge 50% of a Tip change over in material to build a confidance layer to my consumers.

Retirement is not about stopping, its about starting new and having a blast doing it. This next week will be "The Shot" video where I will do an old timers trick shot, with a twist. As in all my videos there should be a pretty lady to help.

The game of Pool is as good as sex, unless your having it on a Pool Table.
