Hijacking sales threads

Hello fellow Az'ers,
I am sick and tired of seeing people messing up other people's threads, mines included.
Whenever you start a thread try to respect that fellow member. Do not say that the cue plays bad or the price does not look good. Keep the comments for yourself and if all possible stay positive :)
I recently posted a thread on here about trading a couple of cues for 1 or 2 IPhones. My thread became a discussion on how IPhones are bad and opensource phones are the way to go. That was not the point. If you are posting something unrelated to the transaction, keep the comments to yourself. I know I might get some bad rep for posting this thread but this was just my 5 cents.
I even had windowsrefund using profanity on a pm he sent me and over the phone as well just because I liked IPhones
This is a free country, so if I am looking for an IPhone, Justis Case or even some Nike shoes in trade for cues do not say how bad the things you're looking for are. If it is not your business, stay away or at least be positive.
We already have a negative economy as it is, we do not need the extra hassle.
Thanks for reading.

man ain't this the truth. this is the best post i've read all month!! it wasn't too long ago that i tried to sell a petree and some jerkoff came on saying i added 50 bucks to the price because i got it for 300 even a couple of months before. never mind indeed that i shipped the shaft to petree to have the ferruel changed (with shipping it was more than 50 dollars)

and whos to say you have to lose money every time you sell something. it's not sin to make a buck or at least break even.

unless of course someone's selling a players and ups the price like 300 above retail.

On the Vette forum that I frequent, if someone steps on your for sale or bad mouths your item, It bought them a vacation from the forum. Same should apply here. If someone wants to trade a cue for anything, they should be allowed to without being hassled by a few azzwipes.

Russ......

am i out of line for thinking he's not gonna get an iphone for a cue? i didnt see anyone putting down the cues ur trading either.but hey what do i know im just a rookie here, lol.
i also noticed ur thread on cory duel being a "looser" lol.id like to c u play him for big bucks.

What amazes me was the fact that Mr. Wilson did a comment about hijacking the thread and the guy came back messing it up and nothing was done.

Guess what. On the Corey issue you were not there like I was. So you just lost another opportunity to be quiet , again.

I agree with most of whats been said. Some people make habbit of knocking other peoples cues and prices, with no intent on buying them. If you don't like the price, PM an offer for less, or say nothing. On the flip side, some people over price items buy a lot and bump them 3-4 times per day.(remember the $8000 Rambo with NO LOA)

You called Cory Duel a "looser" and even though I knew what you meant, you are way out of line insulting one of America's best pool player.

In the case of the Mike Sigel cue, the cue was not placed up for sale, per se, but rather he asked the specific question "How much is this cue worth?"

I have to agree with Bestkites and the others on this issue. If you feel that a cue is overpriced or you don't personally like the way those cues play, etc, it should be expressed in a PM rather than in public. It may be a price negotiation point for you to use privately, but it should not be made in public. That detracts from the person's sales opportunity and devalues the cue. Also, very often, not everyone would agree with another person's evaluation of a cue.

Let the seller and potential buyer work out the price among themselves. The forum is made up of knowledgable folks. If the cue is overpriced or a dog, it won't sell until the price is adjusted to a realistic market value.

Joe

I guess we differ on the proper nature of the forum. IMO, if you want to sell a cue without risk of criticism, use eBay or create a storefront website. If you post a cue for sale on a *public* forum, I think reasonable discussion of the merits is acceptable. I'm not advocating for off-topic hijacking or overly broad statements. I agree that windowsrefund was out of line on the iPhones thread.

My impression of a proper negative comment is a factual correction, based on prior knowledge of the cue or the market or posted information. E.g., "All [X's] cues play poorly" is over the line, but "The same cue can be found on Seyberts for 50% less" is okay.

A ton of people saw what he did. When you do not know how to loose, that's bad, specially if you start an unsportsmanship behaviour. Respond on the other thread and leave this one alone.
Talking about hijacking a thread.....

Talk about a whiner!
Just an FYI:
Loose and lose are 2 totally different words. I suggest that you take Pharaoh's advice and learn how to use them since you have chosen to live in America.
Can you read my spelling now?

Actually Tony, you're missing the point entirely. When I go out of MY way to provide you with information you clearly do not posses in an effort to HELP you, the only respectable behavior on your part is to thank me and move on. Instead, you started whining like a little brat and crying about your precious thread being hijacked. Grow up man. Are you so above learning something? Is it possbile that you have NO IDEA what you're talking about when it comes to the iPhone (and from the sound of it, technology in general?)

Do you think that you are excused from acceptable manners just because the conversation you're engaged in is binary rather than verbal? Are you excused from respecting freeom of speech just because you *started* a thread?

Grow up you immature little whiner

it would be funny if it wasn't so sad

I was reading this thread and I agree with it 90% at least - while the other 10% goes to tsw_521 because in my opinion it is ok to tell one's personal opinion on a cue's hit or condition. BUT what is important to me - and IMO this is the most vital part of everything - is the style / mood in which someone tells his/her opinion. For example: I wouldn't find it offensive is someone said that "I tried one of these IPhones and I would not recommend to you because this or that". Or for another example: I hope he does not mind using his posts as an example, but as I recall sometimes manwon does not agree with what is written in a thread or another. However, if his opinion differs then he can stand up for his POV with good, clear and clever reasons and he does not offend anyone. [and he never trashed anyone's for sale thread or something].

I assume that there are many very good examples on this forum whom should be followed in style, in knowledge and many other things. I for one hardly ever give a damn about what one says if he says it in a manner that is not acceptable or is out of line.

As for the title of this reply: this thread was about hijacking a thread / insulting someone - if I got the point. And yet we are only at the second page of this thread and we are already arguing about English grammar and Corey Deuel... *sigh*

Mr windowsrefund is not sleeping after all. It looks the hat fits in your head. Mind your own business, start your own thread and buzzoff.

I agree and believe that hijacking someone's thread is wrong! However, I don't see anything wrong with offering non pool related items in TRADE for pool related items/or vise versa on this forum as long as there is a pool related item on one end or the other of the transaction... jmho

I can read your spelling, but if you look back on what you've wrote so far, it looks like you're the one that does not know how to spell.

One last comment. I know a lot of people and talk to a lot of people... One of the reasons why AZ does not have more people posting is because of all of the non-sense that is going on on some the threads like the one I was referring to.
The same people love AZBilliards because it is by far one of the most informative billiard related sites on the web, but unfortunately some people just do not know how to behave on a public forum, that is all. If they act, answer in the forum like they do, I can really imagine the grief that their families go thru.
I know even quite a few cuemakers and pro players that do not post because of the same issues I mentioned above.
Some people do not even appreciate the effort that was putt in BCA Vegas by AZ staff to have a nice room with brand new Simonis cloth on two Diamond tables where everybody played for free. That is all.

The correct sentence would read "what you have written" and not "what you've wrote".....LOL.

I have actually been reading some of your posts and windowsrefund is right. You do whine a lot in every thread you have started.

Let me dig some more, maybe I'll find one of your pictures.

Picture of Tony

I found it !

Whatever dude. What I said is just a matter of common sense, but obviously you do not know what that means.
