Hijacking Threads?

Do you hate it when someone comes in and tries to hijack your thread?
There I was talking to people about places to play in Chicago when some fool from Wisconsin comes in and tries to sell us on Pool IQ. Nothing to do with what we were talking about at all!
I also see his other two posts in someone else's thread did the same thing, but at least it was in a thread that was already talking about little Joe!
And his three posts are the exact same post all three times! It's an advertisement rather than a post!

Hijacking threads is an unfortunate reality and will not go away anytime soon.
Since these are public forums, we are exposed to conversational styles that are used, by...you guessed it...the public!

How many times have you been in the pool room, having a nice conversation...when another player / person walks up and just starts talking to either of you about something else, without even bothering to say excuse me, or even waiting for you to finish your conversation?

Well, the same happens here, or any other forum.

People generally don't want to "listen"...they just want you to hear what they have to say.

One of my pet peeves is the practice of inserting a photo into a thread that has nothing to do with the original post.

Or reading the last post of a long thread only to find someone entering one word and a dozen emoticons.

Oh well, these are the days of our lives.

You mean random pictures like the time I found out Stevie Wonder joined Twitter?

I saw the thread, made a comment, hope he gets the point. Making potential customers mad is a poor way to sell a product. I have no problem with him placing a add in the correct forum category. But what he did was a little silly, and intentional.

That is why you have the choice to give some one positive or negative reputation points, if some one did that to me I would Red Rep them in a heart beat.
