History of a glove?

I wore a coin handling glove for a few years in college in the late 00s (before buying an actual playing glove) and was mocked for it. Couple years later everyone was using them.🤷‍♂️

You guys remember Gene 'The Mighty Glove' Catron, right? He was one of the first guys to go gloved that i can recall. If you live in a humid environ they can be a God-send.

It was trendy to make fun of people who wore gloves. But those same people spend 2000 on a cue and think they’ll automatically play better. 🤔

Not just trendy to make fun of them but those people are wearing them now and its the norm now. Gloves are part of the game since these big companies are making them too.

I don't wear one.... have got a few for free and have one in my case.

Nothing against them, but I'm glad I don't require one... dry hands I guess and I play with a wood shaft.

When I've tried them, I feel like I get zero feed back from the cue and can't control precise draw shots.

Ii do and can’t imagine playing wiithout one again. never Understood why people hate on gloves so much. 🤔
Because the skin on your fingers cannot feel the shaft.
You feel the glove, never the shaft.
I understand some players have sweaty hands.
Now they have sweaty gloves.

I need to work on biomechanical pool gloves with sensation. Robo-glove.

That’s fine. But I’m talking about those who poke fun at others who do wear them.

I think SVB is responsible for both the glove and Cuetec being products good players use. Before he was around using both they were stuck in the noob equipment rut. The long cue goes to Earl, with SVB and Jayson following.

Yea I can remember it not being normal and people were made fun of. Well, its normal now and I don't wear one and I don't make fun of others for it either.

Then as the years went on...actually months....you would see people various brands because they were of poor quality. Now I see Mezz gloves and other big names. It could be possibly the only thing that sells at a pool hall besides chalk and tips. Nobody buys the cues in the cases.

Been using specialty gloves all of my life to shuck oysters (they are tough on gloves, especially the thumbs):

First thumb wears out, just . . . beats saving the "other" glove and turning it inside out when the first glove's thumb is gone.

My glove history started on South Tacoma Way around 82. The army surplus had silk glove liners, for cheap. Cut off the finger tips and good to go.
In time it evolved to thrift store silk ties at 50 cents a tie.
A silk slider is always worn by my cue. The therapeutic gloves slide good too.
Keeping everything clean is just like cleaning your guns. Makes for maximum accuracy. Winchester model 70 in a .264 caliber was the ultimate sharp shooter that I had the pleasure of shooting. 🤷‍♂️
Anyway Keeping the slider, gloves, shaft clean is Basic.20250325_071225.jpg

If you don't understand the advantage of a slider.....oh Well 🤷‍♂️

The button is my contribution to evolution. The pinch able labia, er uh lips er uh tab adds a stabilizing option. High speed off road racing requires maximum stabilizers. 🤷‍♂️ 😉

Thank you.

I remember the first glove I've ever seen and it was white and green. It was very cheap. Then one day, boom!....it seems like everyone had one.

I've just started counting lately since a lot of old faces are coming back to play and they are wearing gloves.

I wear one, and I talk shit about them.
Would rather not wear one, but then I live in an incredibly humid climate.
I don't wear one for snooker, only pool.
I attribute this to faster pace, more table time and thicker shaft when playing pool.
