Or not. One of the most boring "matches" you'll ever watch. 'course, 7-ball is a boring game and should never be televised.

I missed the show with Thorsten Hohmann playing Corey Deuel, but I did see Thorsten up against Shawn Putnam. Shawn looked as if he was having difficulty with his break, which is very unusual since he has an excellent break in 9-ball.

BTW, 8-Ball Bernie, make sure you spell Thorsten's last name correctly, H-o-h-m-a-n-n. Earlier this year at the Super Billiards Exp in the pro event, they had the players' name tags pre-printed to hang on the overhead lamps. They spelled his last name wrong, and the meaning of the misspelled word in German meant "nitwit" or "dummie." Thorsten had them change it pronto. :D

The best 7-ball extravaganza I ever saw was when Danny Harriman made 6 balls on the break in 7-ball at the Baltimore ESPN Zone a few years ago. WOW!

At the 2004 Skins Billiards Championship, Thorsten was living in Germany at the time, and I asked him what he thought of pool in Europe compared to the States. He stated that there were not as many opportunities to make money for the European players, to include the Asian-restricted tournaments. It was a short time later that Thorsten moved to Florida and is now enjoying a lucrative tournament trail as of late. He's a man on a mission, that's for sure, and it appears that he's having an excellent year.

Here's a picture Thorsten graciously let me snap at the 2005 Skins Billiards Championship this year.

I must agree that 1000 in seven ball is far less of an acheiveent than it would be in a long nine ball race, but it's still awesome pool. When Hohmann's in stroke, meaning usually, he puts on some show!

was impressive

Regardless of the game or table, Thorsten Hohmann was able to come with big shots when he needed them.

let me add to the consensus......

7ball is honestly not a game worth mentioning. good for TH, though. i mean, no one else shot 1000%, but really,,,7ball is a dumbing down of an already dumb game(9ball).

i think 6ball, then 3ball is the next step. they can be racked by hand, and 4ball/ 5ball aren't rackable.

... or it could really be dumbed down ... spot shots for a grand each.

Absolutely, Hohmann comes through when he has to.
A 1.000 accustats average is very impressive no
matter what game is being played. I see Hohmann as
the player to beat right now.

I watched a minute of this farce, and had to turn the thing off. They were playing BIH on all misses. You could call a safety, and still win if you knocked in the 7-ball. What??? You call the safety so in case you miss, the other player doesn't get ball-in-hand, but you still win if you knock in the 7-ball?

Why wouldn't you call a safety on each shot? Dumb dumb dumb

In the 7 ball tourneys that you are refering to, you may only call one safety per rack, per player. After that, it is ball in hand if you miss the shot. 7 ball is not my favorite either.

Sorry, Fred... but your new avatar picture is creeping me out. It looks like a cross between Hugh Hefner in his bath robe and Yul Brynner as the king of Siam...

Alright, alright. I just need to find something less creepy.

You can be critical of 7-ball all you want, but those players are happy to be playing it for 25 grand. Regardless of it becoming a run-out fest for stretches of time, it is still a very strategic game that forces you to take on shots you normally wouldn't because you don't have the option to play safe all the time.
