This event is definitely happening! Yes, there is a competing tournament in Southern California with overlapping dates. It is about 60 miles outside of Los Angeles. Players can chose which venue and which event they would prefer to play in. Ours is only a two day event, as opposed to three days in the other one.

For most Los Angeles area players, no overnight stay in a motel is required to play at Hollywood Billiards. They can commute each day. In the other tournament, players may have to stay in a motel for one or two nights. Again, it will be up to the players which event they prefer to participate in. If they should get knocked out of the other tournament on the first day, they can still play in ours. So they now get two chances to play on Labor Day weekend.

I thought this was going to happen on Thanksgiving weekend?

Nope, Jeff wanted to do it sooner, because of a construction project that will be going on in November.

Make that two competing tournaments because the HardTimes first Saturday and Sunday of the month will be taking place also besides the Riverside tournament.

Wayne,

When are you going to break down and buy a new calendar? I keep trying to tell you that last year's calendar is no good this year.

What's going on Jay,

A couple of quick questions about rules -

BCA Rules?
if one makes the eight on the break, is it a win?
Break - in the box or just anywhere in the kitchen?

Thanks Jay.

Breakball, good question.

Also after the break you make a ball do you have choice or stuck with what you made?

Foul on all balls or just cue?

I am sure the players meeting will cover it but would be nice to know ahead of time.

Thanks Jay for getting this tournament together.
Ca can use some quality tournaments.

Pro Eight Ball rules. You can break from anywhere behind the line, and you CAN win on the break, if you make the eight. You are what you make! Cue ball fouls only. I haven't yet decided about jump cues. Input needed.

No jumpies.

You're stuck with whatever you pocket on the break? I honestly don't ever recall playing like that unless it was in a bar somewhere (not that I've played in a ton of 8-ball tournaments outside of the BCA stuff). :)

I'd really like to make it out for this, but it'll be just a day after I return from New Jersey and I don't think I can turn around and leave the wife and baby again after already being gone for a week (not that I want to do that anyway).

Jimmy,

The IPT is using the format of "You are what you pocket on the break" now.

BTW, much success in Jersey. Kick some a**!
