Home billiards room photos

The table looks like it has plenty of light and I don't see any shadows. Johnnyt

Great looking room. Could be perspective, but it looks like the light is pretty high up relative to table. I wonder if you have room to lower the light abit?

I think the light is about 54" above the table. The light completely covers the table and is plenty bright, so I'm not too concerned about it. It does look somewhat higher in the photos than it really is I think.

Every billiards magazine or catalog I've ever read has said that the optimal height for a billiards light is 31" above the felt. But if the light is ample, then I wouldn't worry about it. Your light is bigger than most, so I am sure it is plenty :)

I have made much progress since the start of this project.

poolRoom1.jpg

The soon to be billiards room on the day we signed the contract on our new house

poolRoom2.jpg

First things first... got a great deal on a used GCIII and set it up with the help of my Dad.

poolRoom3.jpg

As it looks today. I started the project on Thanksgiving last year and we just had the carpet installed and the table set up by a professional with new Simonis cloth.

I still need to do some finish work and some decorating, but I wanted to get some thoughts on how it looks so far.

Thanks!

Real nice looking room, I am truly jealous!!!!!!!!:)

Well, I got a super sweet deal on the table: GCIII with the light, super aramith balls, 4 lucasi house cues, the diamond light and 4 of the stools you see for $1300. The carpet was about $1800, and my Home Depot bills were probably $4000. I did get almost all of the sheetrock for Christmas and my birthday (Thanks Mom & Dad!) and we paid to have the sheetrock finished for $600 so not including the table or the arcade games, probably about $7000 total which I'm guessing is about 1/3 of what it would have cost me to have it all done by a pro. There is another small 12 x 12 room that you don't see that is included in the price for my wife's office.

And yeah, the carpet is super cushy.
Great room xhopex.

What made you choose a cushy carpet instead of hardwood or laminate floors? Was your choice mainly comfort or sound absorption?

I just bought a house with a big enough bonus room for my future (most likely not near future) pool room. It has carpet right now, but I'm considering chucking it for some laminate flooring. However, the bonus room is on the second floor, and I'm worried about noise if I choose anything but carpet.

Any suggestions anyone?

The Diamond light PDF says that the light should be 78" from the floor. Mine is a little higher at 83".
