Come on Dean....

Ok I will bite. I have a Gold Crown III and with new cloth and powder coated pockets, etc.

If you keep it covered whenever it isn't in use, it will make a huge difference. I clean mine with a barely damp cloth to remove chalk dust. I don't use spray cleaners or anything else.

I was advised to avoid replacing rails unless they were in dire need, as the originals were really the best available. I did replace cloth with Simonis 860 in traditional green, and was told blue is actually more popular, but I prefer the traditional green.

I think Gold Crowns are really a bargin as you can pick them up for $500 - $1000 and spend a little money on them and have a great playing table for about 1/2 what you will have to spend on Diamond. I have played on GC for years and STILL think Diamonds bank short, and I prefer GC.

I wish you the best in your search.

Ken

Brush frequently, vacuum periodically and preferably keep the table covered. I don't really feel a ball cleaner is needed, but you should regularly wipe your balls down with a cloth before or after every session, and don't allow anyone to strike the object balls with the cue - which results in chalk marks and possibly miscue marks on the object balls. The cue ball will require a little more maintenance to keep clean of chalk marks and particularly removing miscue marks. I strongly recommend an Aramith red circle cue ball - most feel it is the best cue ball to play with and it is by far the easiest to keep clean and remove miscue marks from.

Invest in a cover, since Saharan dust likes to travel halfway across the world to settle in Dallas.

That other stuff you mention is for the long haul, so no real need in your case. ;)

What table did you get? Is it installed? Sorry if I missed it, but you change tables as fast as you change cues;)

Here, looks like you could use this. L

Ha, just having some fun at your expense, Deano. 'Cuz I know you can take it.

I have a BallStar ball cleaner. I vacuum the table lightly going from Head to Foot. Wipe the rails with a slightly damp cloth. I have Hood cover that i only use if not home for extended periods or company comes over and I do not want them using it.

what kind of cover,is a plain sheet or blanket enough r should i buy a brunswick cover

i bought a Gold crown 5,rather took it in trade from a person I sold it to
It is still like new

It has 4.5 size pockets ,but it seems to be playing easy ,I really prefer 5 inch pockets

jimmyco has got the best of me one mo time

i have centennial balls and blue circle that came with it

my wife is pleased with her furniture now in the living room and my collie is sad when i play instead of playing with him

Won't have it long enough

Dean, you won't have it long enough to need anything
Whatever you had for Mark's centennial I'm sure you can use for a lowly generic Gold Crown. I'm shocked your wife is letting you put something up that didn't come out of a gallery. All your other tables were far nicer than this one....

Centennial Balls have to cleaned a lot. They do not stay clean. Treat yourself to a set of Cyclops skittles and a BallStar or Diamond ball cleaner.

No experience with the cyclops, mostly just a random observation: the balls staying clean just means the chalk dust is going on the cloth?

Deanoc has now given his real identity, he was a famous movie actor in the 70's.

We've all seen the movie, he was stuck in quick sand and kept yelling,,,

HEP ME, HEP ME.

Blazing Saddles was a funny movie.
