Homeless cues....

classiccues

Ok.. so is it me, or do certain cues just have trouble finding homes? I see a lot of the same cues come up for sale. Does anyone have a reason, or would like to fathom a guess?

Is everyone a closet cue flipper?

Bad economy forces cue posession time to be shortened?

Upgrading collection?

Over-rated cue hype?

All of the above???

too many variables involved! currently think supply is too high.
collectors gain knowledge (some even gain it before they start buying cues:)), tastes change, and styles change (wrapless).
some people buy what they like, some worry more about resale.
discretionary cue buyin' bucks available, goes up and down.
i can't stand the hassles with selling cues, so sure don't think everyone is a closet flipper.
flipping to me means a quick profit . . . not a whole lot of that happening these days.
or it may happen with a lot smaller returns.
course you still have the "hot maker" flip, but one of the reasons they're "hot" is they don't put much work out!
and like you had mentioned in the other post, the "finds" on ebay, are fewer and far between.
i would much rather turn seller cues over to someone else, to move for me, since i'm not the most diplomatic salesperson.:)

think i'd call them transient cues, instead of homeless . . . or cues that like to travel!
they always have a home, it's just changin' all the time.
it is embarrassing when a lot of collector cues, have gotten to see more of the world than i have!
was just thinking about one cue that's made more cross atlantic trips! :)

Perhaps in the case of some cues, they're just duds with regards to playability?

Gotta admit tho'....have seen some cues passed around more than a cheerleader is passed amongst the football team...LoL!

I know what you mean. I've seen a few cues that just keep popping up for sale. Sometimes even with a new wrap or repair or something.

I think some people are prone to buyer's remorse. They want the approval of others and use a cue to gain acceptance or attention. When somebody knocks the cue, they sell. I know it took me a while to really find what I like and to develop an attitude that doesn't sway much based on the opinions of others.

sometimes ppl just find a good deal so they buy it. figure that if they dont want it, they can sell it later. i know thats what i do sometimes. gives me the opportunity to keep trying new cues. that being said tho i've always had the same player.

I think a good playing will eventually find a player who will not sell it.
Pretty cues who can't move the ball get old fast sitting in the rack or case I think.

i'm guessing it's a little of what you're saying and a little of something else.

i'm sure the cues play well but most people on here have more than 2 cues. meaning that they buy something to try out but they always have the 1 cue that they're not letting go of.

i like trying different cues but i love the cues that i have and i do what i can to avoid selling them (selling blood and semen instead).

my list of cues i want to try grows every day. one day if i ever have enough cash then i'll start buying cues again

I guess you'll never own a Tascarella..you know being he was a cop and all...

i hit a few balls with one of his cues and wasn't impressed. but now that i know he's a cop i'll "NEVER" own one. i'd rather buy a coker

Really, tell me more about how it hit??? I've hit with many types of cues and always admired Pete's work, but always wondered about how they hit.

don't take my opinion on it too serious. i'm just not a ss joint fan. the cue hit nice and stiff but i didn't dig it. ss joints are like wearing condoms. sure you still get a feel for what's going on......but

Maybe people just like to try out cues and Az gives them a way to do that and resell it if they don't like it.

Any names you care to name?

I do think that the economy is forcing people to sell off some of their cues as well as I think some folks are selling to be able to afford other cues they ordered.

I'd say "all of the above" and more.

All of the above plus I think some are just CueAddicts :rotflmao1:

I think a lot of it is the person looking for that magic feather. The cue that hits a ton, will be able to draw the CB the length of the table and etc. They believe that the cue will give them that ability. After many purchases they begin to realize that it is not the cue but by now they have become addicted to buying and selling and it becomes a hobby that gradually takes the place of playing but is still part of pool.

So were basicaly talking about the cue that the seller say's,
" It's the best cue I've ever hit with", cue.

Yeah, they do seem to keep popping up

No names, I just see a lot of the same cues for sale, over and over.. heck in the fs section I can find a bunch I owned at one time.. I see a bunch that were offered to me in trade right after they were bought.. it's just an observation...

I think a lot of people may be looking for that Magic Feather, like the Book say's.

I know I've bought many cues in the last few years looking for the hit of my first cue, a Craig Peterson Titlist.

I could do anything with that cue, it was 43 years ago.

But, I've come to realize that I don't have the same mindset as I did years ago and that is what I'm really missing, not the cue.

It was fun though, looking for that magic cue, a bit expensive though.

I have a nice cue now by Mike Stacey that plays very well, probably much more capable than I in the right hands, so I guess I'll try to save a little money for retirement and just enjoy the game.
